We stayed here for a 6th months while on contract in San Antonio. Very easy access to and from San Antonio. Nice and quiet park. Lots of full timers, all of which are very friendly and helpful. Will gladly stay again in the future.
The park is located on the Alpine loop, dirt road for 4 miles to park on winding mountain road past lake San Cristobol. Very narrow drive around park to site, very difficult with larger camper. Sites difficult to get into and close together. No cell signal for any phone service, only spot is 4 miles back down dirt road to paved road. Wi-Fi great, only available at lodge, but works great. Lake city is a very small town, and only has a general type store, very expensive, and very limited. Closest store 45 minutes away. That was all the negatives, the positives: views were amazing, well worth all the negative. Easy access to alpine 4x4 loop. Fishing in private ponds were great, we fished pretty much everyday. and came home with tons of trout. Lake San Cristobol is beautiful! The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The teenage girls who were very upset and crying the first day we were there because of the no cell service and the remoteness, are already wanting to return!
This was not our original destination, but were so very thankful they took us in. The campground is away from the strip, but only a short drive down the hill, with a beautiful view on the top of the hill of the casino's and river. We stayed a week, and everyone, staff and fellow campers, were very nice. Only complaint, if you can call it that, was the sites were closer together than we normally like, but compared to everything around in that area, there was plenty of room! will definitely stay again.
Second year to stay at Nana's and have loved it. Campground is kept very clean, bathrooms have to be the cleanest I've seen with individual shower rooms. Walk to river a little bit of a hike, but my 87 year old grandma walked down and back several times during our stay. We will be going back next year.
