This is an excellent CG if you want to have a base for visiting DC. They have shuttles that pick you up on a regular basis. Also Inner Harbor and Annapolis are within a short distance. It is good for families because there are 2 very nice pools, snack bar and entertainment area. I only gave them an 8 because of the prices, the hookups are not placed right and very limited TV cable. I had a premium site (AAA discount) and it was a stone site with a small brick patio that had a wrought iron table and 4 chairs, and grill. It was fairly level - It was not especially tidy - grill was not cleaned out, some trash on site, and not a lot of space between your neighbor. Fortunately I had been to this CG before and knew to bring extra lengths of TV cable, and water hose. I heard several people complaining about the hookups which are sort of in the middle of the site, but the TV is further out. In addition, I made the reservation on line, with a deposit and asked for a specific site. It was not until checking in that I was told that I did not have the site requested, and was not even close to the area I wanted. In the future I will call instead of using the online, and have a site map handy. We use this mostly for concerts at Meriweather Post Pavillion.
This CG had plenty of shade trees. Landscaping and pools were impeccably maintained. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. We only overnighted here on way back North, but will make this a regular stopping place.
I'm not really sure how to rate this CG. We only stayed for a short time to gain access to the springs and parks, plus Gainesville. It was a good location for that. The CG is divided into 3 areas - permanents, part-timers, and short-term. The short-term area was in long lines, with maybe 5 RVs spaces in each row. If you were not the first one in the line, you had to pull around the ones in front - which meant either going down a slight incline or going up a slight incline. On the way in there is an off/set speed bump that will knock everything out of your cupboard. There is a speed bump at the very exit, which is an odd place to have one. However , it is very easy on/off 75 and I noted a lot of big rigs over nighting. For families, there are animals to see and a parrot aviary. I was not so wild about the noisy parrot activity. At least they are quiet at night. People were very friendly and the bottom line is if I needed to be in this area again, I would use it. However, my husband says he doesn't need to see those speed bumps anytime soon!
This is a nicely laid out campground. It is very clean. It is not an "activity-oriented" park - it does have a horseshoe pit and the pool. We use this for long weekends to visit Cedar Key and enjoy nature and the quiet. The clubhouse is one of the nicest I've seen. I would recommend it for a rally!
We use this as an overnight on our way back north. Convenient on/off I-77. There seem to be a lot of long-term campers and the overnight get an area that does not have sewer hook up. There is a dump station on the way out. Our site was slanted downhill, but we did not have to unhook. A lot of road noise, but did not hear from RV when running AC or fan. It seems to be a popular overnight stop for RVers, as the area filled up as the evening progressed and most of us left in the morning.
This is a nice, clean park that is close to St. Simon, Jekyll Island area. We have camped here several times on our way back and forth from Maryland and Florida. The owners are friendly and helpful. For those who want to overnight, it is not far from the interstate and you don't have to unhook. We are 33 ft and towing and had plenty of room.
