We stayed at River Run in our new 5th Wheel, and thoroughly enjoyed it there! The pool is very nice and the staff is friendly. Laundry room is clean and the machines are in great working order. It was busy, but the sites are large, some with an extra pad for a 2nd vehicle, which we used. The clubhouse is a perfect place to visit, with ample seating and an enormous TV and plush leather couches. Our kids loved the snacks in the store, too. We plan to return very soon!
We called to reserve two spaces for 5th wheels traveling together, arriving after 6pm and were assured that our spots were reserved. When we arrived, there wasn't a human in sight and the place appeared to be filled with full-timers. We went to the drop box, which had nothing indicating acknowledgement of a reservation, pulled out the envelope with instructions, and found that there wasn't a single 50-amp space available. We were there until nearly 3pm the next afternoon and never did find the office open. The spaces we were in were not level and were very tight. The gentleman who cleaned the restrooms was very kind and thorough, but did not seem surprised that the office hadn't been open. Overall, it was an odd experience I wouldn't repeat, since there were no amenities and no 50-amp hookups, as promised when we called.
This is a very unique place! We stayed 4 nights and it was wonderful! Our kids are accustomed to swimming in pools, not "swimming' holes," so that was a real experience for them! The manager is hilarious - great sense of humor, and was very welcoming. There was no cable TV available in our spot, and Wi-Fi and cell service was very sketchy, even with our Mi-Fi. Forced us to get out and enjoy nature and hit some golf balls, which was fun! The pull-through spaces are not desirable, as they're right in the middle of the field, no shade or privacy, but we didn't mind backing into one of the very shady spots right on the creek. Probably 85 percent of the occupants are full-timers (or vacation spot owners), so the folks there were friendly and relaxed. It was so quiet and private, and we loved sitting out by the picnic table watching the lightning and just chatting as a family. The rigs are lined up in the shape of "J" around the field and putting greens, so it feels like you're in your own little forest the way it's laid out. We even got to watch the manager and his son fly their model airplanes in the field... and wow - what a show! He even dropped a miniature parachute guy out of the plane. Next time, I'll do my laundry before we head there, though... as there are only 2 washers and dryers and it took me hours to do five loads. Minor drawback for such a serene environment! I would drive off the beaten path to stay at this place over and over again - it was so wonderful! Our kids would have loved a pool, since they spent the entire time in the swimming' hole looking for water moccasins, but they'll get over that in no time!
This is a really neat park... miniature golf course, pavilion with square dancing and lots of fishing spots. There were geese that bedded down right on the shore of the pond near our space each night. There were a whole lot of full-timers there, and it was a very friendly community. The spaces were very close together, and there was no shade in the row we were in, but the folks on either side of us couldn't have been friendlier, so we didn't mind. The reason I rated this a 7 is because it's right off of the main highway and the truck traffic is so loud it kept us up at night. We stayed here for 5 nights - and had planned to stay 7, but just couldn't stand the traffic at night. The office staff was not overly friendly about it, but did give us a refund for the nights we had paid for, but didn't stay for. If you're a heavy sleeper, this is a wonderful place to stay. We're used to the quiet of the country, so parks that have a lot of road noise aren't so enjoyable for us.
Friends recommended this park to us, as they have stayed there since the shade trees were very small. The pool area is nice - and the spa is really spectacular... totally enclosed in a dome-like shelter! Our kids loved the park, and the dog run was really a great place to let them run off leash and meet other folks traveling with pets. We had a continental breakfast the next morning in the dining room... another fun place to meet friendly RV'ers. We have traveled coast-to-coast, and this is one of our favorite places to stay! The staff even gave us a dog biscuit for the dogs!
