The park is in need of work. It appears that there has been little or no maintenance on the park since October 2013. We were here January 10. There is tree limbs on sites and roadways, fire pits are full of debris, trash, cans, ashes, many sites still have paper tags from Oct 27 checkout still hanging. This could be a great campground, but someone needs to start doing some work around here. We used passport and paid $43 for first nite and got second nite free - so for $22 it was not a bad deal and the lake front sites are awesome.
Very clean little park, but very tight. Our site backed up to the stream, and with our awing out we were almost touching our neighbor. Their sewer connection was 5 feet from our picnic table. Nice area to walk the dogs around in, and the folks their for the whole summer were very friendly! We just did not like the tight sites. Also coming east off Grand Father mountain we could not make left hand turn into park. We had to go up the road and make u-turn and come back down to campground.
Stayed here for 3 different weekends in July. Looked at all the choices in Boone area for campgrounds and this was by far the best choice. The road from Hwy 105 to campground can be a little tricky - but easily done. They have a main lodge area, game room, nice pond, and plenty of room to let our dogs run - open field near front! The new owners are fantastic. Changes being made already and they are doing it right. Excellent customer service. Our electric box had weak breaker when we hooked up 9 PM, and they sent someone right out to replace it. Across the street, they forgot the cable hookup and they brought them one right away. Ice and firewood delivered to your campsite. Saturday night movies on big screen in the main field and campfire for families - had 75 plus at the movie this weekend. Some sites are tricky to get into and some are uneven, but again they are making the investment to keep this our favorite spot in the Boone area!
