This campground had lots of amenities. Since I didn't use them, I felt that is was over priced. It is a great place to stay if you have kids, though. The staff were friendly and helpful. My first site had the sun all day long (until the sun set) and it was not pleasant. They let me move to another site for the 2nd night and that was much better. My only complaint was the dog walk. It was a pen with gravel. My dog hated it and didn't want to use the potty there. I found a terrific dog park in Billings, however, and took her there just to be able to walk on grass and have some fun.
This was the Sylvan Lake campground in Custer State Park. I did not see it listed above. It was a great campground! We were all right in the woods and behind my campsite was nothing but forest and hillside! It was gorgeous! Plus there was a path to Sylvan Lake and the Lodge so I could walk there during the day (I did not want to walk through the woods at night.)
A lovely campground with sites near and on the water. My only complaint was that I called to say I would be late and no one explained that there are two different parts to the park. Unfortunately, when I arrived I went to the west side. Overall, it took me an hour to get to the campground. Once there, however, I was quite happy with it. Trees stood all around so there was ample shade. The office was closed when I arrived and still closed at 9:30 the next morning when I left. So I cannot comment on the staff. I wish the person on the phone had said something about where my campground was and which exit to take off of I-90, though.
Wow! This campground is very simple, but very comfortable and the restaurant has terrific food. Be sure to eat here! The views of the mountains and St. Mary's Lake are gorgeous. The sunsets were lovely. All in all, a terrific campground!
What a great campground this is! My site was high on a hill overlooking the bay. The full moon rose right over the spot and the photos I got were amazing! You can easily walk to the amphitheater and there are pathways down to the beach, which easily takes you to the store and the marina. The funny part was that when I arrived at my site there was a bison sleeping there! I slammed my door a couple of times that didn't work so then I turned on my generator. He left immediately! Of course I could always have asked for help from the campground folks, but this was an easy fix. If you are out in the open without lots of trees around, really secure your screen room or tent because the wind does blow here. That kept me cool and comfortable except in the heat of the day, but I was always off exploring so I didn't care.
Great campground in a beautiful setting! My only complaint was having to walk fairly far to the showers, but I found a path through the campground instead of the road and that made it shorter. Very friendly staff, beautiful setting. Plus I got the senior discount as I always do in an NPS campground,
This campground in is town and is through or near most conveniences. Because it is in town, the sites are very small and overall folks are crowded together. I didn't mind because the campground was well priced, convenient, clean, and had a nice gift shop. I did a ton of laundry here and the price was reasonable and the machines were clean. I ended up staying here again in July so my dog could see a vet. These folks were always willing to accommodate me and they were always prepared for my late arrival. Great service!
Simple campground and a great place to stop near I-90. I found the staff to be quite friendly, and I could walk to the restaurant, which meant I didn't have to unhook. This is a nice area, right next to the Missouri River. I stopped here in 1998 when my brother and I were doing the Lewis and Clark trail. I remembered it so wanted to come back on this trip.
This campground is simple and spare, but it is terrific! The spaces are large, there is a sheltered (from the wind) picnic table, and best of all the views are gorgeous! I loved staying here and would definitely come back. The dump station is easy to reach and you can walk from the campground to the lodge, gift shop, and the amphitheater.
