We have been coming here for quite a few years and the kids absolutely love it.Very clean shaded sites, lots of activities for adults and children. I'm only giving this place a 9 out of 10 because of the owner .He is one of the most miserable people I've never met. I say never because he won't say hello when greeted or return a wave when waved to. If it wasn't such a nice place , I wouldn't give the man a dime of my money.
We camped on a main road that the shuttle bus uses every 15 minutes to get to the Water park. The dust was so thick it covered everything, inside and out of the camper. Then they expect you NOT to use your a/c unit because their system can't handle the load. Needless to say everyone used their units and the breaker tripped several times. On the positive side the ground are pretty and the sites were large and raked clean when you pull in. Deer roam the campground looking for hand outs and the close proximity to the Village of Old Forge is a big plus.
This campground has been trying to recover from some severe flood damage from the past couple of years. We stayed on a site that was just recently back filled and had some deep tractor tire ruts in it. The owners took care of the problem right away and also added some extra sand for a wet area as well. Looking at the pictures they have posted at the Rec. hall of the flooding, I'm impressed with their progress. We had fun and would go back again.
If your looking for an RV resort, this ain't it. If you want very pleasant owners, big shady sites along with piece and quiet this is it. Some of the amenities are dated but neat and clean. When I pulled in with our 5er and the owner drove me around to available sites in his golf cart, I noticed some low branches and voiced my concerns about a ripped roof. No problem, says owner and I follow a bucket truck , with him in it , trimming back any limbs in question. I would suggest asking for a site in the "woods", it's a beautiful and rustic area with full hookups.
