Great campground with a wonderful staff. Everyone was helpful and courteous. At night we walked down to the dock by the river. A pleasant place be. During the day and one evening we went to the city of New Bern. A must see. Very charming. We took the tour one morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a campground that I would return to as well as New Bern itself.
It's all about location, location, location. It's a great and convenient place to park your trailer at a reasonable cost and spend time in the big city. The Path (train) is ten minutes walking distance away and you are in the city in about 15 minutes. I visited with family who live in Jersey City. The area is being built up. Seeing the older section with it's neat little park and brown stone houses is worth taking a walk around the area. We have been here before and plan to return.
For a large campground, it was very well managed. The pony express check in worked out well. You call ahead and when you get there you are automatically directed to your campsite without checking in at the desk. The rest rooms and showers were clean. The first night was booked to capacity (Memorial Day Weekend) and the second night, because it was still off season, there were very few campers. Even at the busiest time, it was reasonably quiet. When in the area,we would return to this campground. We enjoyed walking the grounds, especially by the waterfront.
Spent an overnight but would not hesitate to stay longer. We were on our way home from touring the southern coast. Great campground. Lots of space, beautifully kept. Management friendly and very helpful. Facilities were very clean. There were electrical hook ups but no water. We managed just fine.
Well run campground. Pretty well packed with RV's. One on top of the other. There was a steep hill to the various sites. Our site was on the side in the main area, convenient to rest rooms and relatively secluded. We would return.
This is a privately owned campground that is at the base of Mt. Greylock. The owners are friendly and accommodating. If you have any questions or problems they are there to help you. The road leading to most sites is up a hill and unpaved. The seasonal sites are nicely spaced and are appealing to the eye. The tent sites are also nicely spaced. There are two bathroom facilities with showers. The one that was near us had only two showers and I can visualize a waiting line during busy times. Our plan was to go to Tanglewood during our visit. Tanglewood is a 30 minute (+ or -) drive depending on traffic. We were there during a slow week and hope to go again before the summer is over.
This campground is well managed. Very clean and everything is in good order. It's close to everything. They do not take reservations and we did not see this as a problem. It gave us the option to pay day by day and stay as long as we wanted to. Fees need to be paid by cash or travelers checks only. We plan on returning to this campground the next time we visit Bar Harbor.
