We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. After reading some reviews, we expected a 'typical' KOA campground. As we approached, we noted the campground was easily accessible from Hwy 41, easy to find, and easy to get into. Upon arriving, we checked in at the office, which had a well-stocked mini-store and the lady behind the counter was extremely friendly and got us checked in promptly. Our site was near the main building and park area. I was a little concerned about the noise levels we would experience in the evenings, but decided to give it a chance. The roads were wide enough to pull our 38' fifth wheel around the park and easily get into our site. The site had ample amount of room, extremely level, and had some nice trees that were trimmed high enough they didn't scrape the side of the camper. As other campers arrived, there seemed to be plenty of room and we noticed it was definitely a clean family-oriented campground. The bathrooms were amazingly clean the entire weekend. And although I initially had concerns about the noise levels, it was always quiet by about 10pm and we felt very safe. The campground delivers the firewood to your site upon request, and the owner brought his honey wagon over to the trailer next to us for a mid-trip pump out. The owner was very friendly, and I believe we would try to correct any situation that was brought to his attention. He definitely would not allow loud party-goer's to stay in the campground. There were a few seasonal sites mixed around the park, but they were all very friendly and willing to assist the campground owners with anything that needed to be completed. The campground offered a nice sized childrens park, a Kangaroo Jumper, movies in the evening, a well-stocked game room, and wagon rides through the park. There was always something for the kids to do. The only area of concern I noted was the location of the dump station. At the end of a busy weekend, it could tend to backup and cause congestion in getting in/out of the park. This is easily remedied by paying the honey wagon $10 to pump you out at the end of the weekend. After getting pumped out, we were able to get out of the park in only a few minutes. We would definitely stay here again, and if you are reading poor reviews, I would call the campground directly to get the other side of the story... based on some of the reviews I have read, I can't believe the experiences some of the other campers claimed to have experienced!

We stayed here for 5 nights. We reserved 3 sites together, oceanfront premiums. Each site included a wooden canopy which greatly assisted with getting out of the sun. The sites were very level, and the only complaint about the site itself was the water and electrical wasn't easily identifiable to the site. Due to the confusion, someone 3 or 4 sites away could accidentally take their neighbors water, and eventually, someone was going to be left out. Our friends ended up without water (we used a splitter off of ours instead). I am sure had we mentioned something to the staff, they would have fixed the problem. The ocean front site was about 1/2 a block from the ocean. The beach was extremely clean and nice. The campground store had enough supplies for everyone, and Wal-Mart was only about 1.5 miles in the event of an emergency item. The golfcart parade was neat, but didn't get to our site, so it was quiet each night. Campground patrol was very visible, and seemed to be enforcing the rules. A general note: Don't arrive at 3:00pm on Saturday's in June. Ocean Lakes Campground was backed up checking-in which caused about 1.5 mile backup in each direction. Pirateland, although full, only had 1 camper ahead of us checking in. I will absolutely be back to this campground!

After reviewing others reviews on this site for the campground, I decided to give this a shot while we were here over the weekend for a wedding. We arrived at 10:30am Friday morning after driving through the night. Pulling the trailer through DC traffic was a chore, but we made it. Upon arrival, the checkin process was very easy, there were numerous staff members waiting to assist us. The staff presented info on the park, metro tips, and a few other tourist packages that we may be interested in. They were NOT pushy at all. We had a pull-through site, so paid a few $'s more for the site. Our site was setup "buddy style" where you either share the patio area, or you can pull a little further forward and use the grassy area. Our site was very easy to pull into, was very level, and upon leaving, easy to depart. We requested the pull-through and quiet. We got the pull-through, and other than the highway noise heard when outside the camper, it was very quiet. I highly recommend this campground to anyone traveling to the DC area. On the weekends the drive to the Metro station was about 5 minutes. I would imagine a bus ride would be in order on the weekdays though. We also used the laundry facilities, which was very large. Most machines were in working order (a few had out of service signs). The restaurant was decent but prices varied from very reasonable, to a bit more expensive. The store was full of many items to chose from. We didn't use the bath, showers, or pool.

We stayed here as an overnight trip on our way to another location. We pulled in around midnight and the campground had our maps and details on the office door. We pulled in late, and with the pull-thru site's we could easily get in. The sites are VERY narrow though, so getting 3 slides out could be tricky if your in a hurry. I wouldn't stay here as a destination, but perfectly good for the night. Most people appeared to be "interstate" traffic. The hosts were friendly, and they sold diesel and gasoline on-site for a reasonable price. I will stay here again if traveling through the area.

We traveled here with 4 other families to visit the National Parks and Gatlinburg. After reading previous reviews of the campground, I was confident that I was staying at the right place for us. After arriving, I definitely know this was the best place for us in the area. The owners are very friendly, more than accommodating, and really know the area attractions well. They can give great recommendations based on your interests, kids ages (if you have any), and tell you where to save your money. Although not harassing, the owners walked the park many times each day, and were more than accessible. The park is very clean from the bathrooms to the heated pool. Some sites are bigger than others. We easily backed our 40' fifth wheel into our site. The pull thru's are smaller sites, but they are designed for those who aren't going to spend any time but sleeping at their camper. The pull thru's are also close to the pool area, so be warned of noises. Highway noise was good "white noise" but if you want quiet, request a site in the back of the park. I highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a place in the area. It is about a 15 minute drive into Gatlinburg. You will see other campgrounds on the way, and from the road, can't say that they look better than this one!

After researching reviews on this site, we decided to travel here as part of our vacation. The grounds were extremlely clean, the staff was extremely nice, and the location was very easy to get to. We decided to stay an extra night, as we enjoyed the campground that much. We stayed here with our 4 month old daughter, so didn't get to use the pool on this stay. The sites were large enough for the truck and fifth wheel to sit. We had enough room for a campfire and outdoor sitting. It rained when we pulled in, but the grounds quickly dried. The owner releveled the gravel each day after other rigs left. The only downside was that there wasn't a lot of room if you like to walk around the campgrounds. About 10 minutes and you were back at your starting point. All in all, it was great. We will definitely return!!!
