Although a little of the beaten path for an over-nighter we were pleasantly surprised by this park. Granted, we stayed here the end of January and had the entire park to ourselves. The manager personally came to us for registration (rather than having us go to the golf course) and was very friendly. It's true that there are no clearly defined sites which wasn't an issue since the campground was empty, but I can imagine it could be a problem in the summer or during their busy season. Since we stayed just one night we had no need to use the restroom, so I can't comment on their condition. We did walk around the grounds and hike up the hill to see the lake and watch the sunset. For $10 w/ 50amp service it was a great value for us.

Rate reflects month long stay with metered electricity. Parking lot style camping in the long-term "big rig" area. We were unable to reserve a better (or Lake Side) spot on-line since they only allow long-term in certain sites. After speaking to some long-term residents they pay "extra" to hold their prime spots when they have to leave for the required 2 week period as set by CA or local law. So, most likely those prime water front spots will never be open for anyone else. Wi-fi was frustratingly poor and our spot did not have cable, but we paid the same rate. Nice lakes and walking loop and great location. The sites further back were very, very nice, but not long term, or at least not available to us. Although we loved the ducks and other water fowl we would not stay here again...not worth it for parking lot spaces.

Reservation sites are pull-through, off street style parking that is slightly less private feeling than the first-come/first-serve sites (we stayed in both during this visit). All sites have covered and cement patios and fire pits. Our first spot (#19) had great; (free) wi-fi reception, but site #6 was spotty. Showers and bathrooms very clean. Great hiking to the dam. The towns of Hatch, Mesilla and Las Cruces are all close by (15 miles). Loved it so much we extended our stay 5 additional days. We will definitely return here. Price reflects water and electric (30amp) hookups. Dry camping sites available for $10/night.
