This park was very nice for a city park. The area was beautiful and green but it is April. The sites are ok, we were in a 5th wheel that was 31 feet and had issues. The roads are narrow, I mean inches, because of the trees along the road. The sites had tables and fire pit but the sites themselves were lump, we like our neighbor had to use all of our wood to come close to leveling out. The trails are nice the showers are hot and our kids had a fun time. You cant beat it for the price, we even went to the wharf which was about 45 minutes away if that. This is ideal for visiting all of the local bay area. So the good; bathrooms, showers, trees, trails, fishing, and the price. The bad; the roads are narrow, uneven sites, hard to get into some, recommend nothing longer than 31 feet, and poison oak everywhere! I read these to hear what other people think and thought this would be a good idea. It is a great place to be central and hike or fish. I would tell others to go here if they wanted to have a short get away.
This campground is one of the most beautiful campgrounds. During the fair the grounds get pretty trashed but before this and after this the campsites are quite nice. The area has much to offer in activities. Although it says there is no waterfront there is a small bass lake that I have taken my kids to. This campground is maintained and is very beautiful. It is more campground than your ordinary RV park so this makes it especially nice. You will love the quietness.
This campground is nicer than the campground in Hollister Hills Recreation Area. While this is off the freeway the park is kept clean. It's a short trip to the trails, and the fruit stand is close. I have driven by this place numerous times and stopped for the fruit. We finally stopped to camp. It was overall nice, and the place was clean. There was not much of a stream when we went, but you have easy in and outs.
While some complain of the noise from the freeway, it was barely noticed. We had a family tent site which was nice; our kids slept right behind us in their tent. This was also nice because we were on the Dune side. Ask for the dune side and it will be less noisy. The sites were nice, a snug fit getting in, but after a short half hour my husband and father figured it out. We do not normally stay at places with hook ups and this exceeded our expectations. The people were friendly, and everything was clean. The best part was heated showers and bathrooms. This may seem little, but when you take the little ones to the beach which is a short 10 minute walk, a beautiful walk, you will want those showers. There are no long term stays so it keeps the place nice. This was also the best RV park for those wanting to go to Monterey. The 9 of us all had a great time..try it.
