This park is special, it sits high on a hillside, and although close to urban facilities feels like it is deep in the NC forests. The location offers stunning views. The owner has not only provided a number of premium sites with views, but has created a space and seating area to allow all the other campers on property the opportunity to enjoy the view too. The onsite managers are extremely helpful and friendly, the park itself is kept in pristine condition. Premium sites are concrete, deluxe sites are gravel, all sites are back-in but plenty long for your average big rig (we are 40ft). Some sites are better than others if larger than 40ft. Major area attractions are easily accessed and groceries are conveniently located within 1 - 2 miles. The negatives: the road up to the park is steep, narrow and gravel, but easily passable if traffic one-way. For rigs coming and going, this is mostly accomplished by strict check-out / check-in times. The requirements for a big deposit with a strict cancellation policy is archaic, and the stink bugs in September are insane! But this is NC in the fall. We have checked out other parks in the area and none compare to this little gem on the hillside.

Love this park, my favorite park in the Denver area. The west gate exits to the DTC area - tons of great restaurants. Easy access to groceries out main gate. Park setting is spectacular, with full views of the front range of the Colorado Rockies. Reservoir was a little low but still pretty. Big sites and clean facilities. Huge cottonwood trees and tons of wildlife; deer, coyote, squirrels. Very popular park in summer, hard to get reservations over the weekends. Only negative is paying the high day-use fee along with the daily camping fee.

This is one of the nicest State Park facilities I have had the pleasure of staying in and I have stayed in many across multiple states. Beautiful, serene, well manicured property, stunning lake views... and very quiet. It is amazing that we find ourselves almost alone in this wonderful park. Access to the town of Russellville (for groceries) is so easy and close and access to/from I-40 so convenient. Parked here in our 40ft Motorhome.
