Only complaint is that you have to be there by 5 pm to check in. It is a gated park and has no capability for after hours arrival. This is an ownership park and a lot of park models and permanent residents, however, they all take pride and 99% of the sites/park models were immaculate. We worried initially because we have little boys and the rules are pretty stringent that are listed at the pools and there are mainly retirees. But much to our surprise they were welcoming and many had their own grandchildren visiting or missed their grandchildren and therefore smiled to see the little ones there. It is a great community atmosphere. The beach is across the street and biking is a major pastime and many have or bring golf carts to get around. We will be definitely be back (just when we can guarantee we can get there by 5 pm!)
They are updating many things and have added golf cart and boat rentals, however, you can only use the golf carts in the campground. Staff terrific as usual. It was a very busy time during spring break. We always stay in Loop F right in front of the store which seems the nicest because of the view and decks with gas grills and the pool and playground and open grass area in the circle. The spots are pretty close together. My only complaint was the laundry facilities. One of the 3 laundry locations was closed and not noted anywhere but when you get there, it is locked. The other two all had one dryer out of order and more washers than dryers anyway so it took hours, literally, to do 2 loads of laundry as with the dryers that were working took two 45 minute cycles to dry. The campground was close to capacity though. Next time I will find somewhere outside the gates than the hassle of trying to use what is there, however, they are upgrading many things so could be better soon. Overall this is a great campground if you have children. Lots and lots of kids there to play with and the other activiites around the mountain plus hiking and exploring.
We stopped here for one quick night. Called and asked if they would have room if we got there and they said yes and said just take an empty spot and settle up in the morning, Didn't see much of the park. It is a mile off of I-75 so no traffic noise. It is not paved but we had no problem pulling through with a 40ft motor home and a mini-van in tow. It was after hours when we arrived and so we had no idea where the 50 amp spots were and ended up in a 30 amp spot. Not a problem since it was a overnight, but you might want to ask best spots for your set up if you are doing something similar and will arrive after hours without reservation. There are pull through sites on the right hand side as you pull in across from the office that are 50 amp and is best choice for transient. I would not call this a "destination" park. Little ones would have trouble riding bikes etc. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
This park is great because it is off the "Parkway" (main road through Pigeon Forge) so you aren't bothered by the constant traffic noise yet they have a trolley stop if you need to use the local transportation and do not have a car or want to drive your car. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have a great pool for the warm summer months and right across the small street is a hotel that has both an indoor pool that is heated which is great for the winter months that can be used anytime for free and outdoor pools. The hotel indoor pool was open until midnight and it also has a nice jacuzzi indoors. Outside at the hotel they have a lazy river pool and swim pool for warmer months. The campground is pretty sterile with paved pads and not a lot of trees. The surrounding area is nice to look at and there is a creek but it is small and not wooded or anything. If you like a clean, new park, this is it. Since we went there to take in the different attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and it was still cold, it was a perfect location and terrific with the indoor pool for the kids.
This is our 3rd time going to River Ranch in four months. Excellent as always. We got the last spot, at the last minute and it was tight for our 40 FT motorhome which is unusual for this park. There is so much to do and everything is immaculate. It is an excellent resort experience with a little cowboy flare with the Sat. night rodeo. Plus since they have accommodations, friends can come along and rent a villa or hotel room.
The park has been totally re-done. All the sites now have beautiful pavers. They did remove the trees, but it is so nice now. The bathrooms are beautiful as is the rec room area. The pool is heated year round. They have sites with docks, and even if you can't get or don't want a site on the canal, they usually have docks you can rent. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. They have their own ramp launch for your boat and an area where you can place your trailer. The location is perfect for boating out to the North tip of Longboat Key with beautiful while sand beaches. This is a small park and other than the pool there is no play area for children but they can ride their bikes through the park streets.
This campground gets an excellent for location, staff, & cleanliness. You cannot beat the location for being on the beach and convenient to get to. The spots are tight and all they have are a picnic table (pretty well used - could use new ones) and unfortunately by the way they stack you in you are usually facing your neighbors door, so no privacy there. However the positives are you are on the beach and the nice grass ledge overlooking the seawall and beach, you can sit on and watch the ocean, watch the kids play, walk down one of the many stairs to the beach and take long walks and it is just plain peaceful. The staff is very friendly, warm and welcoming. The bathrooms are not updated but seemed to be cleaned everyday. Another great aspect was all the campers were very friendly and helpful. Not a lot of room for kids to ride bikes etc. Just rode up and down but the beach is really the draw!
Beautiful, incredibly meticulously maintained RV park. This is however not a campsite type place. Lots and lots of activities from the Rodeo every Sat. night to airboat rides, swamp buggy, boat rentals, very small video arcade, country store with pizza, sandwiches, hot dogs, a Smokehouse BBQ Grill restaurant, Saloon (Bar w/ some dancing), hayrides, petting zoo, country western wear store, Kiddie Crafts, and so on. Several pools and bath houses. Everyone brings, or rents Golf carts to get around as the place is so large. Rentals are $60 for 1 day or $50 a day for multi-days. The RV sites are all paved and many have wood patios, swings and fire pits etc. There is also a marina and canal front sites with docks. These are all owner lots and many of them are rented out. There is no where close to go. Once you are there, that is your destination. Probably 10-15 miles to Wal Mart and five miles to the closest gas station with convenience store.
We were in Loop F right across from the children's playground and pool and a few doors down from bath facilities. This is a great campground and excellent for those with children. We have young boys and could easily peek out the windows at them playing on the playground. My 4 year old had a blast riding his bike around. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and the store was decently stocked. Stone Mountain activities were also a lot of fun and we did purchase a special that included tickets for the attractions but liked it so much they allowed us to get credit towards an annual pass. The campsites are a bit small but in Loop F all come with a deck that has a table and a beautiful, expensive gas grill, with the gas bottle included. In fact, their service was so great there they had a recall on their old BBQs and took them away one day and so we went and asked why and the very next day we got the new one... they were putting them together as fast as they could. They also have church services on Sundays in the pavilion and have coffee and donuts every morning that we were there, out for the campers. They collect the garbage in front of your spot daily and have trash cans all around the park. The entire park was spotless including the baths and showers and the surroundings were beautiful and while they don't have cable and because there are trees everywhere those with satellite really can't get service, our TV antenna worked great. They also have a big screen at the open pavilion.
This was our first ever experience with our new RV. We literally picked it up and went to this park, as it was an hour or so from where we picked up our RV. They were friendly, helpful, led us to our site, had great specials and packages that included going to Lion Country Safari, and yes we did hear the Lions in the morning. The pool was very nice and lots of fun but did close several times for rain storm/lightening and did not re-open as quickly as I thought they should have. But they said they have to go by someone else's forecast?? Also the pool closed at dusk, which for the summer it would be nice for it to be open a bit later. THe bathroom were spotless as were the showers. A really fun place to visit and take the kids next door to the attraction. We were very lucky to pick this as our first spot as it was enjoyable and the camping store had at least a few things we did not have for purchase such as a fry pan! The stores were about 5 miles away. I expect we will be back again.
The cleanest bathrooms and showers ever. Nice looking pool, but we didn't use it. Roads are mainly dirt and gravel. Nice animals on property: parrots, goats, donkeys, horses, peacocks. My four year old had a great time riding his bike all around. The pull through area for overnighters is pretty flat with a few trees, the longer stay area is hilly with nice trees but closer to highway. The property is well maintained and cared for.
They show a great picture of a perfectly manicured, newly renovated site on their website, giving the impression they are actively renovating all of them. As it turns out there is only two sites that are renovated. The streets are tore up so bike riding is treacherous in the park, and the bathrooms were pretty bad. They surface cleaned them twice a day but bugs, sand and dirt in every corner, nook and cranny and even the paper towel dispenser amongst really old facility. Three toilet stalls and three showers in the women's, but one toilet stall the door lock was broke and could not keep it shut. The showers were atrocious. Could not ever get the water adjusted, gave up. The location is good if you have a boat, want to launch and/or dock there and boat down a canal to the inter-coastal near the top end of Long Boat Key. Great locations to drop anchor and swim. The pool did look newly resurfaced and was nice.
