This is the best park we have ever stayed at. The RV sites are surrounded by large Ponderosa Pine trees. There is lots to do on site, including an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna. There are outdoor games and activities for the whole family. There are several playgrounds with outdoor and indoor activities for the children. There is TV, Wi-Fi, and cell coverage. Rest rooms, showers, laundry and very clean and quite new. Pros. Reservations available and recommended. Water pressure, power were fine. Showers & rest rooms clean, spacious, and handicap accessible. Very pleasant setting and an excellent family destination. Cons. This is a membership resort. In order to use it you must be an active member of KM Resorts of America or one of its affiliates, like Coast To Coast, Resorts of Distinction, etc. Final word: we will most definitely stay here again.
General Description: This is a pretty funky campground. It was formerly a city school and was sold at auction about 15 years ago. The school playground was converted into camp sites (hence the name). Showers and rest rooms are what was once used as gymnasium locker rooms. Pros: • clean restrooms and showers • pleasant staff • Easy in and out • part of Passport America (so low-cost!) Cons: • Old buildings • most of the sites are pretty poor • no pool, or any activities of any kind • no TV, internet, laundry. No anything! • Owners planning on getting out of the campground business Final Word: I would stay again, but would try to avoid their busiest times (July 4th and early August bikers rally!
This is a very nice RV Park. Although the buildings are old, it is well maintained and kept clean. Most of the sites are wooded, but there are also some in the open for those looking for satellite TV. There are lots of things for adults as well as children to do, including a pool, playground, and game room. There are lots of very homey touches to the décor, making for a very pleasant experience. An on-site laundry room is also provided. Pros. Easy in and out access. Very clean; pleasant staff; pleasant settings. Located close to Pipestone NM. Part of Passport America. Cons. Old buildings. Final word. We would definitely recommend this park. In fact, we plan on coming back either next year or the following summer for a longer visit.
General Description: This is mostly a “destination” RV park used as an escape for nearby city-dwellers. The vast majority of the sites are occupied by permanent or semi-permanent RVs. Many sites are owned outright by individuals. For the most part all sites have water and power only; no sewer hookups. No TV available. Wireless internet at the lodge only. Cell phone reception is spotty. There is a dump station on the way out. RV sites are in an open area, fairly easy to get in/out. The lodge has a restaurant. Pros: Friendly, helpful staff; no problem with my reservations. Water pressure was fine. Always had soap, toilet paper, hand towels or blow-dry in rest rooms. Cons: VERY poor showers. Very cramped stall and dressing area. NO control over hot/cold. Pay showers at 75 cents each (quarters only). My water temps were either scalding hot or near cold (same session). No warning when time was ready to end, but there was plenty of water. Very poor lighting (bulbs burned out). Restroom stalls very tight. Restrooms not regularly cleaned. RV pads are gravel; you can get level side/side, but way off front/back. A lot of driving on county back roads to get to park. AC power always below the 110-volt minimum. Swimming pool requires showers before using – but at 75 cents per shower, no one we saw did this. So most everyone using pool did not shower first. Over all, with the exception of the pool and playground, this park was not very well maintained, and showed its age. Final Word: We will never stay here again!
General Description: This RV park amounts to a huge open field with RV sites. Each site does have full hook-ups. Very few trees. Plenty of sites; nowhere near filled! No TV; Very good cell phone coverage. Tip: Check in is at liquor store just north of park. If you come in after it closes just find an open site and pay the next day. Since this park is mostly empty, be sure to run the water a while before connecting to your RV. Pros: • No need for reservations, plenty of open sites. • Water pressure, power were fine. • Showers old and tired; not cleaned while we were there but adequate. • Very easy in/out. Cons: • Showers not cleaned while we were there. • No soap in restrooms. • Shower not adequately lighted (bulbs not working). • Small sites. • Very weak (slow) wireless internet at sites. Final Word: OK for short stays.
General Description: Pleasant setting; lots of trees. We had a pull-through Tip: Check in is at restaurant adjacent to park. If you come in after office closes go upstairs to restaurant. Pros: • Reservations available; in our case, without one we would not have had a site. • Water pressure, and power were fine. • Showers rustic, adequately sized; generally OK. • Very easy in/out. • Park of Passport America Cons: • Very tight side-to-side sites. Final word: we would stay there again.
General Description: This is a very small RV Park: it only has 18 active sites, and three are marginal. In some ways it is run down, but the new owners seem committed to improving it over time. I tagged it as “not kid friendly” because there are no activities for them. Pros: Very clean, recently remodeled rest rooms. Showers very nice. Extremely helpful and considerate staff (owners). Part of Passport America. Cons: Needs more sites. Wireless internet weak. No TV. Final word: we look forward to staying here again.
This is a membership park, and, as members of the system, we were not charged a nightly fee. Wi-Fi is available, but not at all sites. I had to carry my laptop to the picnic table at the end of the road to get service. We have stayed here before and have always enjoyed this park. The staff is very friendly and the grounds clean and well maintained. Rest rooms are clean, though not very large. This park is at the edge of the city of Newport, so some stores and restaurants are within walking distance. We will stay there again this year and recommend it to anyone else who has access to it.
