When it comes to natural beauty, it doesn't get any better than this park! The moss draped "Live Oak" trees, as the locals call them, are everywhere. The campground was quiet and relaxing. If you are going for some R & R, this is a good place. There is really not much else to do in the campground itself. There are many squirrels here and they are so tame that they will come and eat, right out of your hand. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The campground is situated across the street from the beach, however the beaches were disappointing. There was not a lot of sand or waves. If you enjoy history there is plenty here to see by walking, or by over twenty miles of level bike trails. There are also tram and horse drawn carriage tours of the historic district. You can also go horse back riding on the beach here. There are not many restaurants on the island. We enjoyed our stay here but do not plan on returning because of the mosquitoes. I've lived all my life in the south, but in all my 46 years, I've never seen anything like the number of mosquitoes here.
