The most expensive site on the whole trip and yet if you wanted a shower you had to put quarters in to take a shower. Nearest diesel fuel was back in Orr, Mn, about 30 miles away, so plan ahead. Wasn't much to do if you didn't have a boat. Wi-Fi was only usable at the office.
An excellent/easy overnight stay. Easy on/off the interstate. A Dairy Queen right across the road if you need a treat. One of the nicest bathrooms we experienced on the whole trip. The only reason for a 9 versus a 10 was the typical maxed-out Wi-Fi capacity. One can retrive web pages with a little patience, but forget about downloading anything like Skype.
First time at a horse campground and it was great! We didn't have/bring any animals, but enjoyed the horses and pets on the place. It was real easy to let the kids run without concern. The campground has a great view of the surrounding valley and mountains. The hosts were outstanding. The only reason for a 9 rating and not a 10 is that the Wi-Fi always seemed to be maxed out, I could connect, but completed very few web pages before giving up.
They have a new office complex with restrooms, showers, laundry, etc. that was very nice. For $5 they give you a key card for access to the new facilities (you get the $5 back when you return the card). The top deck observation tower on the third level is a great place to catch the view. The facility has an elevator for the handicapped. We stayed over the long Thanksgiving weekend, it was a great experience. The only reason for not giving the facility a 10 rating was the large pot hole on the drive leading to the camping area, go slow in this area. The environment was safe and quiet. The board walk into the swamp area was enjoyed very much by the kids. For those unfamiliar with the area, its next to the ship channel so its interesting to watch the ships go by. Lots of people fishing off the jetty, bring your poles.
Stayed twice for a night each during the week in July in the Pine Grove area. Boat ramp is a block away and swimming is either at the small sand beach for kids down on one end of the Pine Grove area or directly off your lot (most are water front). Few if any 'pull through' lots, though things are spaced well enough that backing in isn't much of a problem. Just out of WiFi range from our lot (43). A nice quiet family/kid friendly camping area. A porta-potty was available in the camp area, you can walk up the hill for fancier restrooms/showers if you need them.
