Site are level and office help friendly. That's about it. No Wi-Fi at your site. No cable. Roads are dusty. Way overpriced even for a KOA for what you get. Don't let the 2 mile drive fool you. You end up right next to I-10 and all the road noise. Sites are not taken care of at all. Weeds over 2 feet tall abound. We are on our way home and it was convenient. Will stay someplace else next time even thought it's just for one night. Why don't campground owners understand that Wi-Fi at your site is important? Having it in the office is very inconvenient. In addition to lugging our computer up there, we would also have to bring our printer, road atlas, huge campground book, etc. that we use for investigating various areas. We feel there should be a different designation for Wi-Fi available at your site vs. in the office or overheated laundry room. This should not be a KOA or else they should lower their prices significantly.
Interior roads have many pot holes. Sites had trees branches that needed to be trimmed and rubbed on the RV all night. Worker stated Wi-Fi wasn't available in the campground as a storm took it out a while back and it hadn't been repaired. This was a KOA approximately 9 years ago. It has a feeling of disrepair. Minimal cable TV. Sites were not level. Very expensive for the poor quality and low level of services.
The road noise from I-65 was horrendous as the park is right next to it. Owner stated W-iFi didn't reach the area we were at which is always frustrating. Why not put in a repeater? This area also had side-by-side hookups which were very, very close. For people who were using this as a destination, seasonal campground, the sites were much better. There is a pay for fishing lake with swimming allowed, although we didn't use it. Internal roads good, sites gravel and level.
Wi-Fi & cable TVgood. Site was a bit narrow. Owner friendly and appears to keep the park in good condition. Some highway noise from I-65. Excellent laundry facilities - very clean, 4 washer and 4 dryers that all worked. Even though the sites looked decent, they were putting down additional gravel on many of the sites. Lots of shade trees.
WiFi & cable TV good. Interior roads somewhat rough as they just had a downpour which caused gravel to wash away. Bathrooms are spotless. Some road noise from Western KY Parkway. Owner very helpful. Another camper sprung a water leak and he was advised where to get parts early a.m. and all fixed quickly. Another camper had his ribs all set to grill and his grill wouldn't start, so the owner hauled his personal grill over to their site. Very accommodating.
I think your opinion of this campground would depend on which site you are assigned. We were fortunate to be in a full hook-up site, overlooking the lake. This site would be pictured on RV sales brochures. Sites level. Interior roads good. No laundry facility. Decent Wi-Fi. No cable. Local TV two stations. Satellite coverage dependent on site location due to trees. Men's bathroom had motion sensor lights which was a slight issue if you took a few minutes to complete your transaction as they could not be activated while sitting in a stall.
Very open campground. Wide, long, level sites. Good cable and Wi-Fi. Managers very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Very quiet. Did not do laundry here, so cannot comment on the facilities. An ideal location to visit the Porcupine Mountains and the Kewaunaw Penisula. The campground looks rustic but is a great place for an extended visit to visit local sites.
Level sites. Interior roads decent. Full hook-up sites extremely narrow and short. (And, we only have a 33' motorhome.) Wi-Fi works very well. No cable and trees cause spotty satellite reception. Many late arrivals (1:00 a.m., 2:30 a.m.) and people working on their RV's after dark, caused this to not be a restful stay, especially since the sites were so close. While the area has many interesting places to explore, we will find another campground for our next visit.
Interior road conditions were poor. Wi-Fi was poor. Laundry room was dirty with only 2 washers (of a total of 3) working for a campground with this many sites? One bathroom of the two was closed while we were here. The bathroom that was open, two toilets out of three worked in the Men. The handicap toilet was out of order. Two young ladies in the office were great when inquiring about local events, roads, etc. Our check-in lady though was coldly efficient bordering on rude. Rules of the park were not followed for quiet time, clothes lines, etc. Stray dogs would leave 'treasures' on your site. They have hiking trails, but no maps with lengths of trails, difficulty, etc. Very disappointed in this campground. The price was ridiculous considering all of the above.
Very pleasant, quiet campground. Most sites level and spacious. Walk down the hill to the lake with a swimming beach. Easy walk to town to Koshar's (a variety of homemade sausages!), post office, restaurant, & liquor store at the end of town. Wi-Fi is intermittent. No laundry facilities. Host is accommodating and informative about the area. Would definitely stay here again.
Level, long wide gravel sites. Nice and quiet park. Owner very pleasant to deal with. We couldn't receive Wi-Fi at our site either. Two washers and one dryer - although area was very clean. Bathrooms are impeccable. Would definitely stay here again!
Used our Golden Age Pass so the rate was half the regular rate. This park is incredible. Had a full hook-up, level site with trees and picnic table. The sites are long and wide, so a camper, boat, and two vehicles would fit easily. Have paid many, many more dollars for places that do not even come close to this park.
Only thing keeping this from being a 10 is no black water sewer dumping at any site. There were grey water drains in various areas, which was a plus. The west rim campgrpimd had plenty of shade for the hot weather. The sites were wide and nicely laid out. Campground hosts were helpful and friendly. Due to the somewhat remoteness of the campground, would recommend staying quite a few nights. It's worth it!!
Owners friendly and helpful. Had a hydraulic issue and he referred us to someone who came out to the site on Sunday! Sites were not very level. Ants were everywhere, so ant powder needed. The bathrooms were clean, but somewhat dated.
Office help very friendly. Park in very poor shape for an expensive KOA. Weeds over 2 feet tall around the pool. Sand in the pool. Bathrooms and showers needed fixing. Sites narrow and not level. 30 amp service kept tripping the breaker, so we had to plug into 50 amp. Saving the best for last, they have some sort of children petting zoo where the roosters start crowing at 3:30 in the morning. Unbelievable. Would not stay here again, even for one night.
Nice park. Sites very level and wide with concrete pads. Numerous trees, but not 'dirty' trees that dump needles or sap on your RV. Office help friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They provided us with a number of restaurants that deliver dinner to your RV.
This campground will spoil you for other campgrounds. Concrete pads with picnic tables, trees, long level wide sites. Some sites have car covers. Driveway between sites is extremely wide for easy maneuvering and feeling of space. Bathroom and shower is unisex with individual doors much like your bathroom at home. Laundry room is clean, but a little cramped. Covered porch outside the laundry room has chairs and tables for relaxing and meeting folks.
As you know, KOA's are slightly higher priced than most other campgrounds. But, at times, it is worth it. Such is the case at the Sioux City North KOA. Clean restrooms and showers. Level, pull-through sites of reasonable width. Many sites have trees that are not intrusive, just provide nice shade. Good cable channel selection and free WiFi.
Bathrooms, showers, and laundry room clean and modern. Sites are nicely shaded without being intrusive. Reasonable width, length, and level. We had a problem finding the campground. It is directly behind the Super 8 just off I-90, across from Pilot Travel Center. It really isn't on a street. No road noise, other than the occasional siren. There is a train track nearby, but not many trains to speak of. We would stay here again.
The friendly owner and his wife are on the property and take pride in owning a well run campground. The bathrooms, showers, and laundry room are spotless. Majority of the sites look outward, so you are not looking at the back end of another RV. The only possible negative is the width of the sites; however, we did not have an issue with a slide on either side of our motorhome and neighbors who were accommodating. Stayed here three nights and would definitely stay here again.
Believe your experience at this campground depends on the site. We had a water and electric site which are side by side, cramped, no picnic tables, and not level at all. Showers and restrooms clean and old. Campground is located between railroad tracks and expressway, so sound is an issue if you're a light sleeper. When we left in the morning around 9, we had to ask the camper in the next spot to move his truck, so we could exit the park.
Bathrooms and showers are clean at this park. All the sites appeared level and had skinny, tall trees plus a picnic table. Has good WiFi, and very good cable TV with many channels. We stayed here a week and enjoyed several of the activites nearby. It more than met our expectations since we do not need (nor want to pay for) a pool, miniature golf course, etc. If we had to search for a negative it would be that the dryers took longer than most to dry. However, they have a phone outside the laundry room where you can make free long distance phone calls.
Very disappointed in our pull through site. Have a 32 foot motorhome with a slide on each side, and because of the untrimmed bushes and unusable picnic table smushed into the bushes, could not walk around to reach our car. Had to whack our way through weeds to get to the water, sewer, and electric hookups. Office staff friendly, but the sites were terrible. Have been traveling for two months so far, and this is the first time we've been very disappointed.
Only thing keeping this park from being a 10 is lack of shade. Park, restrooms, & laundry room are very clean, management friendly and committed to service. Owner actually phoned us around 10:30 p.m. to see what time we were arriving (very windy that day) as he would stay up so that we would not have to 'find a spot' on our own. They also have a reasonably priced evening meal available of 6 items plus a country western singer.
The only thing keeping this park from being a 10 is the lack of shade. The bathrooms are incredible, the laundry room is very clean, and the park management is excellent. Stayed here for 7 days of a weekly rate of $110.00 plus electricity. Our electric bill was only $9.00 as there was a constant breeze, no A/C was needed. Definitely would stay here again!
