The crazy ditches that cross the road in numerous places through the park make the 5 mph signs truly laughable. Going faster than 2 mph would shake your motorhome to pieces. There is no internet connection (Wi-Fi or modem) available. Sites are grass and to get our motorhome level, I had to have my rear wheels 5 inches off the ground. Park staff was pleasant so there was one good thing. The rules state quiet time is between 9PM and 9AM, however one of the permanent residents started up a chainsaw at 7:00AM. That's right, 7:00AM!!! I truly struggle to see how this park rated some 10's in other reviews.
We have been stopping here for the past three years on both the way down and then on the way back and will continue to do so. It is simply one of the cleanest, nicest parks we have ever been in and, if you golf like we do, it is the best value going. Free golf for each day. All you pay for is the cart and the golf course is a really decent course. Nice fenced dog yard. I tell all my golfing buddies to make sure they stay here on their way through and they all agree that the Lakes RV Resort is one of the best.
This park was a delightful surprise during a long drive back to the Pacific northwest. It has very clean level sites, wide streets, and is quiet. There is a very nice walking path along the top of a dike so our dog got lots of exercise. This is an excellent stop on the way north or south on I5 but I wouldn't stay here for a long time as the services are rather limited.
Great park and will certainly stay here again. Very clean, nicely landscaped, wide RV spaces with good length. A terrific dog run area that is huge! Fruit tree on every RV spacew is a nice touch. Only negative for me was the front desk service. The lady there certainly gives the impression that she is not thrilled to be working. I suspect people looking for a resort may wish to have more facilities.
The best thing about this park was the RVers - friendly people willing to chat. Big park with three distinct areas. The RV area is tight with spaces barely allowing enough room for your tow vehicle, which must be parked across the front of your RV, Poor excuse for grass at each site so the owner would be better advised to replace the weeds and dirt with some stone. If you have a dog, find yourself another park. With 1300 sites, they provide one small, dirty, fenced area. This was the poorest setup I have ever seem for dogs in a large park. WIFI was barely adequate. Their claim that this is the premier RV resort in RGV seems says little for the RGV. I will not be returning to this park.
A beautiful park with lousy WIFI. A great dog park. There is not a great executive length golf course but several terrific full size courses nearby. It was not busy and there are tons of open spaces here in mid-February. Management doesn't appear smart or particularly ethical because if you don't purposefully ask about the 'first time' special (buy a week and get a week free), they won't tell you. The people on their counter tried to act surprised when I mentioned it even though they have a sheet on rates in their drawer that explains the 'special'. This treatment has meant that we will probably not stay here again even though it is a lovely park. It quite obvious that they have issues here and have priced this park out of the game because all the other big parks, such as Sundance and Fiesta Grande appear to be totally full.
This park is always a 'must stay' during our drive to and from the south. Very pleasant office personnel. Great, wide, concrete pads with adjacent grass area. The river front sites are simply gorgeous. Tons of room to let the dogs run.
WOW!! Simply a terrific campground. This place offers everything I would ever want with the single exception of an on site golf course. Very, very clean, terrific level pads, great service from the office personnel, and free shuttle service to their casino located across the road. If this place was in southern California, I'd stay there for the winter.
This is a very pleasant park. We planned to stay for three days and ended up staying a month. The spaces are not overly wide but are very private with tall hedges between sites. Lots of areas to walk the dog and even though I prefer full size golf courses, this course was a pleasure to play. Typically the RV sites are in one section of the park and a bit separate from the park models. The WI-FI is free through Tengo but is the reason I wouldn't give full marks to this park. The WIFI connection was, at times, quite erratic (perhaps 10% of the time) and given that I need the service for business, I found this some what frustrating. Lastly, we never felt any less secure here then at any other park. Having said all of that, I would definitely stay here again.
