This is a nice campground if you just want to park and go someplace to gamble. It is on a busy road but didn't really seem that noisy. Right next to Diamond Jack Casino. We will stay here again the next time we go to Shreveport.
This is a beautiful park. Large sites with lots of room between you and your neighbor. They are putting in new wooden decks at each site and were working on that while we were there. And, the washers and dryers are FREE! Westwego is a great town. There is a great place to buy any kind of fresh seafood you could want a short drive out the gate to the right from the entrance to the park. Also, Perrinos is a great place to get seafood. Short drive to New Orleans. We can't wait to go back and we will stay here again.
We stayed in #19 June 29 - July 3. This is a beautiful campground with lots of trees. We had to use a dish on a tripod stretched almost to the river to get satellite. The river was 8 to 10 feet higher than normal and the fishermen were out in force. We fished and caught some trout using sweet corn. We were really lucky with the weather - the highs were in the mid 80's and the lows were low 70's. It is very quiet here at night - no loud campers around a campfire. Also, something that was odd (but nice because there was no smell)was that there are no trashcans throughout the park. There is a dumpster area to take your trash. We camped here in a motor home.
We stayed in this campground for 3 nights. It was late when we got there, and Trailer Village was extremely hard to find. We didn't see any sign for Trailer Village. If you get there after dark and there is no one to direct you, head toward Market Plaza - Trailer Village is really close to the store & Post Office. There was a note for us on the entrance to the campground telling us which site we were in. We loved the park. It was full the first night we were there but had pretty much cleared out in the middle of the week. We were advised by someone parked next to us to keep our sewer hose in - there are huge black birds that will peck holes in it. The store has just about anything you could want. And of course, the Grand Canyon was spectacular!
We stayed at the Oasis for 5 nights. We had the reservation for 6+ months and were informed that the rates went up Nov. 1. We checked in on the 5th. Not by much - $2.00 per day I think. The park is beautiful and someone is always mowing, weed eating, sweeping or something. They keep it pristine. The park is in a great location. Security was tight. We enjoyed our stay there. I'm sure we saved money in the long run since we were not staying at a casino! (800) 566-4707
We had a reservation at a different park but called on our way to College Station to see if there we could get a site at Holiday RV. Dan called me back to say he had a site for us. (Thank you Dan!!) This is a beautiful park - well kept, large sites, nice grass for Daisy Dog as well as all the amenities listed. I would love to stay here again for a longer period of time. The train woke us up at 6:00 am but since our alarm clock didn't go off, we were glad to hear that train!
