This is one of the best Luxury RV Resorts with the most friendly staff (that will go the extra mile for you) in the country. All sites have large concrete pads that will accommodate any size rig. Some sites have outdoor kitchens, screened rooms and privacy pergolas. I would definitely stay here again while visiting the Gulf Coast.
Very bad interior road, low tree branches, hook-ups in the oddest places, low voltage (our low voltage alarm went off 2 or 3 times a day), over priced for what you get. Absolutely no amenities! Staff was friendly. The best sites are taken by long term or annual renters. This campground is convenient to Newport, not much available in other parks.
Big Rigs Best Bet got this all wrong! Yes, you can get a big rig in here if want go through a obstacle course of pot holes, low tree branches, tight turns and narrow sites. This is a campground not a resort. RV resorts have grass, hard surface patios, paved roads and the list goes on, for about the same price. RV site are located on a 100+ acres down the road about a 1000 ft and on the other side of the highway from the office store and campground amenities. Owners need to invest some $$$$. On the plus side Lake Placid and the Olympic complex are fantastic. (A great place to visit.) But do watch out for the New York drivers in the mountains they like to speed and tailgate. We would not come back.
The children and some adults do not know campground etiquette. They just walk through your site within inches of your RV. This park is in a great location but is in need of some TLC and should have an adult area. Staff was very friendly. Store and cafe closed during high season? The Guntersville Lake State Park and Lodge is one of the best in the country, which is located only a few miles away. State Park boat rentals are very reasonable. Do not waste your time to visit the Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro; better value at any WalMart. This is one of most beautiful lake settings we have found. We would come back during non-holiday weekend. Fee we paid was for a ROD (Resorts of Distinction) member with 50 amp service.
What a joke. Manager came off as being rude, but I chalk this up to her lack of communication skills. Whoever wrote prior reviews must not have been to many parks. There are lots of maintenance issues here. Road conditions are bad. Was not allowed to move to a better site when it became available. Lower section by the lake is for Western Horizon members only. There were 18 sites not being used down by the lake, but we were told we could not move. Upper section is a very primitive grassy field with limited cell phone access and no cable. Sites are not maintained in any way. Fee for wi-fi and 50 amp service. Spa and fitness room was a disaster. Cobwebs everywhere. The one positive item was the lakefront cafe or snack bar with reasonable prices staffed by work campers. Came in as a ROD (Resorts of Distinction) member but was treated as a second class member. Other ROD parks seem to welcome ROD members. We will never stay here again.
What a nice surprise. Would give this a 10 if they had sewer hookups. Dump stations were easily accessed from either direction. Spacious shaded sites and friendly staff. Store open late - what a concept. Everything from tents to luxury motorhomes. Kids walk and bike through your site. Pool was crowded but seemed to be clean. Signage when you enter does not tell you where to pull in for registering and unhooking tow vehicles. Registration area can get congested. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour to the nearby horse farms set up by the Visitor Center. We will be back and will stay here again.
There were many kids at this park. Park map showed an adult pool but kids were in both pools. Kids walk and bike right through your site. Premium sites are nice. Sevierville and Pigeon Forge has traffic congestion unlike we have ever seen. Pigeon Forge is a family tourist destination. We recommend visiting the Apple Barn complex. We probably will not return to this area - been there, done that.
Interior roads needed attention as well as the sites. Our site backed to a pond but was not level. This could be a nice stop if maintained better. We were looking forward to a pancake breakfast, but cook was on vacation. We would stay here again if passing by.
This is just an OK overnight park. Shaded sites seemed tight for larger rigs. We called ahead and were told Wi-Fi worked, but should be spotty. Wi-Fi did not work and alternative internet access area in office was similar in size to a porta-potty. Internet didn't work there either, so we left.
