Love, love, LOVE this part of the park! We tent camped, many times. Best area of the park. The bathrooms are clean. Coin-op showers. Beautiful views! Easy access to the Appalachian trail. Some tent sites are downhill. Plenty to choose from. You can even check out the sites before you choose. Super awesome bear-proof boxes make it convenient to store food. Camp store is fully stocked, except for feminine products. But they sell beer and wine! A++ all the way. The only downside was some Park Ranger gave my husband a hard time entering the park.
I was pretty disappointed with this campground. The tent sites were on top of each other. Zero privacy. We had people hike thorough our campsite to get to a "trail". The bathrooms were small and dirty. My teenaged daughter and I took showers. The cleaning lady came in to clean. She left the door open, which caused the curtain of the "changing area" of the shower to suck in, giving my daughter no privacy. The shower walls were cinder blocks. Gross. The camp store was poorly stocked. We had to drive through a stream to get to our site. No problem, until we wanted to walk somewhere. The foot bridge was 1/4 mile away in the opposite direction. Upshot? The pool looked nice if had been warm enough to swim. Staff was friendly. Lots of room for RV's. Huge campground. Pond. Wellsboro is a beautiful town with lots to offer. I would not camp here again.
