We have for the last 4 years stayed for a night in this campground. Always a pleasant experience. But, not this year. On our way home to Canada, our truck broke down. We were in the campground for over 5 days. During that time, the manager locked the bathrooms/shower and the laundry room. He said the "season" was over. This is a park which remains open all year, so how could the season be over. He was very curt to me when I had questions. Also very unprofessional in appearance, behind the desk in the office with short shorts and no shirt! We will not stay at Benson I-10 ever again. The sites are just fine, but this past experience has soured us on the park. Not knowing how long the Ford dealer would have our truck, I asked him if the two day park fee I had paid could be added into the week rental, he said No. We paid for a week but only stayed an extra 3 days. He knew our situation. We left the park on Easter Sunday 2009 and shall never return.
This campground is an overnight stay for us. Managers live onsite and are very friendly and helpful. They have a small store and computer hookup in the office if you need to use the internet. Very quiet and peaceful area. It is tucked out of the way, beside a small lake. There is no swimming in this lake. Lots of squirrels. Wal-mart is close by and has diesel pumps. Big shopping center surrounds the Wal-mart. Lots of choices for restaurants. We are usually too tired to venture out of the campground. Laundry room is sparkling and so are the showers and restroom. We always like to stay here on our way south to Arizona.
This campground is only a one night stopover for us. We always stop here when in Van Horn. The management is super. They have a small cafe at the campground with excellent meals. They will even deliver to your rv site. Reasonably priced as well. The office has gifts, food items and rv items to purchase. There is a computer with high speed and/or wifi, and they will let you check your email or surf the web, as long as you don't abuse the use. We really enjoy our stay at this KOA. Peaceful and quiet.
We camped here from November through April. Really had a great time. Liked the idea of leaving camp on your ATV and having miles of countryside to explore. BlackRock cafe across the road is excellent, especially Saturday night Prime Rib. The pool is sparkling clean, as is the very large hot tub. Lots of activities to choose from if so inclined. Saturday free music jam session is just great. All local campers participate. Everyone in the park is friendly and courteous of others. There are no street lights in the park, so the stars are bright. We are going back for another winter. Close to Quartzsite and rock and gem dealers and all the vendors and RV show and sale.
