Beautiful campground. Nice large sites and nice fishing piers. We were just passing through and wanted to do a little fishing. It was very HOT for June. I wouldn't mind coming back at a cooler time of year.
LOVE this campground! Our grassy site backed up to the river with fabulous views. This is an alcohol free campground. After seeing the other campgrounds in the area, we would definitely choose this one over any of the others. We played in the river and fished a little (no luck fishing). Rafting, kayaking and canoeing are activities that can be utilized at this park. There is a volleyball set up, huge trees and lush green grass. Although it was our first time, we enjoyed canoeing and rafting. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. We will be back!
Although the price was a little more than we would like to pay, the facilities, hospitality and scenery were well worth the price. Very kid friendly with lots of activities. We were escorted and guided into our site. We would have loved to stay longer, but could only stay one night. I would come back again!
We were hesitant to camp here so late in the summer, but it was wonderful. We stayed in Mesquite, which does require 5 water crossings, but there was not any problem. We liked Mesquite because it was away from the traffic, beautiful views and close to hiking and playing in the creek. Hiking, biking, playing in the creek and equestrian riding are all part of the parks entertainment. Seeing the musical drama "Texas" topped off the entire experience. We look forward to returning in the fall in order to hike to the Lighthouse.
We stayed a week and it was our first trip out in our new trailer. The park is immaculate, beautiful and we loved the visits from the deer. Despite the continuous rain, we really enjoyed our visit. We will definitely return to this campground.
I was a little skeptical when we first got set up. Carlsbad had just received a major flood when we arrived and the playground was a little muddy, but it didn't take long to dry out. I loved the fact that my child could go and play and I could still see him. He loved the tire swings. They almost need to add another. The breakfast on Sunday was very nice also. I was disappointed that there were not grills at the campsites, but the convenience to everything else was wonderful. We will stay here again when we return to the Caverns.
Out of all of the campsites that we visited and compared, this one tops them all. We stayed on the stream and it was breathtaking. Our son loved playing in the water and playing hide and go seek with our friend's kids. It was a perfect set-up for traveling with friends. The grill, fire pits, tables and swings were behind our trailer, so we could enjoy everything together. The playground was missing some swings, but the boys didn't miss them. Yes, there is only one bathroom with a shower and it is clean, but you have full hook-ups if you do not want to wait on someone. The map is deceiving, but once you get here and see everything, who cares! There were portable units across the stream, but we never needed to use them. The parks RV sites were all full when we were here, and we never had to wait on the restroom. The owner was very friendly and informative. He let me tour the cabins that he rents out and they are very nice. We will definitely be back and will recommend this site to all of our friends. Owner is still working on the place and making improvements daily.
