Rate reflects our monthly rate. It doesn't get any nicer than this. Sure, there may be other campgrounds with fancier "amenities" and "resort" type features, but as far as campgrounds go, Lakeview is TOPS in most areas. The staff are the nicest of any campground we have ever stayed at (we are full timers, so we have experience with a wide variety of campgrounds). The sites are all easy to level in and hookup in. The rates are fantastic. The view is beautiful....I could go on an on. Bottom line, if your camping brings you anywhere near here, there is only one option for which park to book, in my opinion! We lived here 4-1/2 months this year before getting back out on the road (I was working in the area) and loved every minute of it. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pocahontas. The only reason I'm giving it a 9 is because the pool was not easily accessible and is open to the public. We were actually warned by the desk clerk that it would likely get very crowded. However, our spot in the second section was very easy to access, fairly level, and right next to the playground and a camp store. We had two wonderful nights here, and hope to return soon.
This was a one-night stop on our way to our final destination. It was not a bad experience (I'm giving it an 8), but there were a few things I found somewhat unsatisfactory. First was the charge for a gate key that I did not see mentioned in any of the website or reservation information. It is unavoidable, as you have to have a gate key to get to the campsites, and it was automatically charged to my credit card on the day of arrival. They charge $20 but then refund $10 of it when you return the key. The other frustration was that I called ahead to see if we'd be able to fill our propane tank when we got there, and they said it would be no problem. I told them our anticipated arrival time (which they said was fine), and when we arrived at that time, the office was already closed. It would have been nice to get that information when I called ahead. Other than that, the site was fine, roomy, electric was sufficient, and we had a peaceful night. Easy pull-through site too, for a big rig, too. I'm not sure what it would be like to spend more time here, but for a brief one-night stop, it was more than sufficient for us.
We spent three nights here in a 35 footer and enjoyed it immensely. We were in site 57 which is the last RV site and has a bit more room than some of the others. It was a back-in site (pull-throughs were all taken when we registered), but we did not have any difficulty backing in. The staff was very helpful and very nice, and our 4 year old daughter loved the trampoline, pool, and playground, all of which were very well cared for. The road accessing this park is not the easiest to drive (curves and low branches), but by the third day, I was used to it. (We did not have a toad, so we had to use the MH to drive everywhere.) We would definitely stay here again, and hope to!
