We stayed here for a week on our way to Florida. We had come cross country from California. We picked this CG because it was rated C2C Deluxe, $10 rate and we were tired. Not sure where DELUXE fits here, but the internal roads were very bumpy, with some tree limbs hanging pretty low. The so called HOT TUB or whirlpool was absolutely disgusting with green water and debris. Even the local frogs would not use it. The pool was borderline usable. The pool furniture could have used a major cleaning. The Laundry room consisted of 2 washing machines in a shed for the whole CG. The gentleman who checked us in(I believe owner) was less than friendly, but was courteous. The store did have some items for sale. I gave it a 2, because the sites were flat and large. We will not return, unless I see favorable write-ups. (FYI: Thank you for contacting Coast to Coast regarding your concerns about the Wilderness RV Park. We are sorry that you have experienced disappointment with this resort. Also, we have requested that Woodall's visit this campground for rating purposes. To my knowledge Woodall's has not reclassified this CG.)
Staff was relatively friendly. Residents were VERY friendly and welcomed our visit. Encouraged us to participate in their activities. Great location for shopping, restaurants and the beach. Neg: Much discussion about Canadians making demands above and beyond. We met 2 Canadian couples who were very pleasant and friendly w/o any issues. Would return in a heartbeat. Our rate was based on Carefree Military discount.
We stayed here with our C2 membership. We had an awesome time with the G-Kids (2) with us for the week. They were not bored. Hooray! I rated this resort a 9, only because of the mix-up on activities (minor impact). Secondly the general store did not post the cost of sandwiches etc., so we passed on those purchases. Our Site 422C was perfect. They do have other sites in the woods, but we were not interested. Our site was large and flat, with a Weber/Genesis Grill with utensils, and sink outside. Will definitely come back.
We have been here since 12/29/2010. Our Site #22 is big enough to handle our 40ft and Jeep Liberty. Yes: many spots are small. Overall it's OK. I agree for the price, we should have a bit more. Staff is friendly, place is clean. Dog area: I have no clue since we don't have a dog. As far as access to the beach, you can walk to the corner and cross. Or you can DRIVE. It's close. Good shopping and restaurants are within a 5 mile radius. We will be here until late March or early April. We would come back. We are paying the monthly rate.
First time here, will come back. We had site # 235 trees for shade, site was large and we could set up without any issues. Pool was clean and they had activities. Staff overall was friendly. We did witness an interaction that was not up to par, but who knows what precipitated that situation. Our neighbors were friendly, helpful and a joy to have near us. Being a newbie they were more than willing to share insights. We hated to leave. Very close to many restaurants from reasonable to expensive..We ate at Barefoot landing-Umberto's, we go there every time we are here and have never been disappointed. CW and Wal-Mart if you need to pick up any last minute items. One draw back was we were close to Hwy 17. Personally once I fell asleep it was not an issue. Wi-Fi is available if you pay for it. We would come back.
This is a wonderful park from all aspects. Clean, well maintained, all park models and permanent residents took pride in their sites. The staff was friendly. One of the owners stopped by to check that all was well. Bathhouses were private and immaculate. Has a nice, well stocked general store, and the clubhouse was clean and roomy. There were planned activities. Pool with slide was very clean. Nearby Swansboro was a nice little town. Aquarium nearby we were told by friends, was worth the trip. We would go back. One draw back, no escape from the sun.
The friendliest staff I have run into here in this part of NC. Very low-keyed RV campground and close to the highway . If you get here after the staff is off, they tell you to go settle in and in the morning come to the office and check in. Mt Airy is just down the road a few miles and has some things to do. At this campground you need to entertain yourself, read a book etc.
Pleasant park, clean rest rooms, enough activities for a four-day stay. Karaoke, Bingo, Band, Golf Cart Parade (did not partake). I agree it's very dusty. For the most part people near our site were friendly. Can't say that for the overall population. Golf carts were all over the place: a bit of a nuisance (IMHO). We stayed in section C-80. Staff person in the camp store, appeared that she wanted to be someplace else: no smile. I did get her to smile by telling her how nice she kept everything. I would go back sure: everyone deserves a second chance. The men's room near Section C had only 1 shower with a handle, but was clean.
