Quite a county park. Lots to do: Disc golf, horseshoe pits, archery, lake swimming, full equestrian facilities. This place has something for everyone. Now the bad, sites have recently been upgraded with sewer hook ups; the problem is the sites are grass and the construction left the area soft. That said, we saw 3 different rigs needing to be towed out because they got stuck in the soft sand. At this point, county is picking up the tab for the tow, not sure how long that will last. Bathrooms are clean but small and in need of updating.
The park is a beautiful piece of property, but the layout of the park is just bizarre. The pads are paved but short, uneven, and placed in odd places. Roads are narrow and not big rig friendly at all. Plan on long runs for water and electric at most sites. Its too bad it has such a funky layout because this place is so pristine.
Nice level sites, shade if you want it, easy access, clean restrooms. So why am I giving it a 5? NO SHOWERS! With the lack of campgrounds anywhere close to the city of Chicago, this place would boom... and be a 8 or 9 if they would just build some public showers.
Stayed here for a couple of nights after our camper was serviced. Pricey but lots of stuff for the kids, pool, petting zoo, pond, rec room, etc. Sites are mostly pull throughs and can be a little tight. Place is getting a little tired and needs some fleshing up. Bathroom maintenance was spotty.. need to pay a little closer attention to the details, paper products etc.
Great Park for the kids... The quarry is amazing. Nice people who run the place. Pretty clean. We would definitely camp here again if we are in the area.
Park has beautiful views but its lay out is strange. You need to be able to parallel park your rig in most cases. The bathrooms are pretty clean. We would stay here again.
Clean and close to everything in Jackson. Sites are tight. It's pretty pricey, but I guess thats because of the location. Bathroom are clean, but could use some updating. We would probably stay here again.
Pretty park. Nice size sites. TERRIBLE mosquito problem. (I have camped in the everglades so I know bad mosquito problems) We spent most of the time indoors. Also beaches of Lake Michigan had thousands of little dead fish...Issues with flies and smell... This park is a 9 or 10 if these problems are fixed.
Missouri State Park web site says it has a pool. It does, but its not open. That was disappointing since we were here at one of the hottest times of the year. Park is pretty, and very clean. Showers were decent and cleaned every day. Sites were small but level. I just can't get over the pool thing. It looked like it had been closed for awhile. Someone needs to update the state park site!
This is a pretty park with lots of wildlife, deer, gators, etc. Roads are narrow, and the sites can be narrow. Has clean restrooms and showers. Beware of TICKS this time of year.
