We had probably the closest site to the river and thoroughly enjoyed the view and the sounds! Strangely, the "premium" sites are all in the middle of the park, with people constantly driving/walking through, close to the bathrooms, etc., and overlooking the "lake" (really just a pond). Not sure why those are considered prime sites. But overall it was a great place...nice enough space between the RVs, and located in an absolutely beautiful spot. Would definitely stay here again.
This is a nice park, but the best, grassy area on the river seems to be reserved for the largest rigs/homes, and the smaller ones are smashed together (we were maybe 2 feet from our neighbors on each side!) on gravel areas that are on the river, but the noise from everyone is so much that you can't hear the water. If you want more than being a sardine in a can, but still want a river site, don't accept any of the southern sites----just those few on the north end. The sites away from the river on the north end are also nice and more spaced out than those on the southern end.
We were absolutely delighted with the Longhorn! Compared to other parks where we spent time on this trip, the space between the RVs was huge (which we really appreciated!) and our site on the Wind River was perfect. The bathrooms were extremely clean, the entire area was quiet and beautiful, and I *definitely* would have taken advantage of their massage therapist if we had returned the next night instead of moving on. We very much hope to stay here again.
