Great location for visiting the west side of the park and for fishing the Madison, Gibbon and Firehole Rivers. We stayed 16 nights here. Our site was a pull through that was easy to park in as it had no trees between our camper and the road. However we saw a number of people having problems parking their units in other pull throughs with trees between the road and the parking area. Most of the sites are not as long as needed by newer RV's. There are some sites that are used primarily as sites for buses. Closest services are in West Yellowstone 15 miles away. We were visited by elk, coyote and bison during our stay.
Recommend that you call Xanterra to make a reservation instead of using their website. We needed a site to hold our fiver and tow vehicle and it required a double site so we could park the truck next to the camper. Not many double sites available. Location is great for visiting the park areas around the west side of the Lake and Gull Point for fishing. A bison herd went through our site and were present during our 4 day stay. The sites in the field area are more level than in the circles. Our site was not level and required that we put the front end almost on the ground, but we had lots of trees and space.
Right off the Interstate and just north of Columbus. Sites are level. Some have mature trees for nice shade. Road noise is as expected. Family owned; the staff are friendly and helpful. Campground is well kept. Would stay here again as a place to stop over for the night. We felt it was a bit pricey for the amenities, but it is basically the only campground in town with hookups.
Sites are close together, some mature trees, cornfields on three sides, water had a strong iron taste. Friendly work camper hosts. There are no services at the exit on the Interstate, but the campground has some items for sale, including freshly baked pizza and beer.
Love the showers! We had a pull through site and it was difficult to get into as there were trees close to the parking space and we had to maneuver the truck and camper in an area restricted by rail road ties in concrete. We ended up backing into the site and gave up on getting the camper positioned the way we wanted. Our site had our doors facing into the site, but other sites had the doors facing the road. Good location for a day trip to Lewis Lake and the Grand Tetons.
Love this campground! Good location, great hosts, distance between sites. Clean and well kept. Can choose if you want a site in the trees, in an open area or backing up to willows. Hosts dropped by one evening to let us know that a bear had been sighted in the campground. We appreciated their care of the campers.
Good access to shopping and services. Family owned and they were very friendly and helpful. Clean campground. The only thing that bothered us was that we had expected a different setting based upon the website photos. We had expected more sites backing to the Yellowstone River, but there were only 3 or 4 that did so. The campground is laid out in an oval with the sites extending as spokes from the oval driveway. There is room for turning and backing. Everything was spic and span, well cared for. Would stay here again.
Right off the Interstate for easy on/off. We had stayed here before and the hosts were able to look us up in their database and personalized our visit, even knew that we had a cocker spaniel. We use this campground for overnight only while we are traveling and find it clean, comfortable and friendly.
Friendly hosts and level sites. The park is located on farmland converted to a campground and is near to a farmhouse. There is a large utility tower of some sort located in the campground. Looks like it is a newer campground with small trees planted and some grass. Whatever shortcomings the campground has is offset by the welcome and attitude of the hosts. Sites are closely spaced, but not uncomfortably so.
Close to Interstate. We had made online reservation for a pull through site hoping to not have to disconnect the truck from the camper. However, what is advertised as a pull through is really a parallel parking site. We didn't feel comfortable with our slide outs sticking out into the street and asked for a different site. The host said that other people didn't have problems with their slide outs and was not helpful. When we insisted on another site, the hosts made us feel as if we were stupid and a nuisance. The campground is nice and very heavily used. Just believe the state should not show parallel parking as a "pull through" sites and give their hosts some customer service training.
We stayed on the peninsula that is first-come, first-served. Our site was at the end, near a water faucet and facing a cove on the lake. We could pull the boat up to the shore near the camper. Site had privacy and shade. We kept extending our stay. It was great. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets and great fishing. Hosts were very nice and friendly.
Clean, well maintained. Gravel roads and site with grassy area for picnic table. Pull through site. Easy to get in and out of site with camper. Laundry room was clean, washers and dryers worked well. Staff was friendly. Great place to stop while you shop at the store. The day we were there it was very windy and dusty.
Our site was narrow and difficult to get out of as there were landscape timbers marking site and a tight turn to get out of the site. The black water hookup was located to the rear of the site so we had to back up to connect and empty our tanks. Campground was clean and staff was friendly and courteous. Nice dog walk area. Sites were close together.
Older park that needs updating. Had problems with 30 amp electric not giving us enough juice to run AC. Site was grass and dirt and there was a big curb we had to drive over and down to get the camper out of the site, which was advertised as a pull-through. Backed up to the Interstate and was near several service stations.
Good location if you need a place to spend the night, but wouldn't want to spend a lot of days here. Site was a bit difficult to get into as there were trees and a utility post to squeeze through during the turn-in. Looked like there were people living at the campground with a lot of stuff outside their campers. The campground was clean and well-kept.
Our tow vehicle broke down outside Cody and we needed a place without a reservation and without an end date. They took us in and took care of us. Great hosts. Clean, well-maintained. Staff was courteous and helpful. Don't miss the free pancake breakfast!
Great campground. Our site was a back-in with the back window facing Boulder Creek that was about 10 feet from the back of the camper. The drive was gravel and had grass with a bench next to the river and a picnic table. Very friendly staff. Clean facilities, and fishing in private lake. River was too high for us to fish. Lots of space to walk pets. Used dump station as we didn't have a full hookup.
Lake front site was worth the extra cost. Quiet with the lake about 15 feet from the door of the camper. Had beautiful view with terrific sunsets. Caught trout from the jetty at the marina. Courteous staff, helpful if you had questions. Clean and well maintained. The drive to West Yellowstone takes about 15-20 minutes.
