I have camped here for almost 25 yrs. The campground is nice and clean, lots of hiking trails and wildlife. But this year I have seen some things going on I didn't like. People were putting out little "pup" tents and registering their friends "saving" sites for them. This is a "first come" first serve" campground. But a week before Memorial Day 2007 we counted 12 little pup tents at one time, and the worst part is..I seen a park ranger put a note reading..."do not use" on a handicap site after a camper that had been there longer then the 14 day stay. The reason was the ranger was saving this site for their friend. So if anyone plans on coming to this campground better come early in the week, or all the sites are "reserved" when there isn't reservations made at this park. Other then this corrupt way of the reserving of the sites by other campers "friends and family" and also by the park rangers, this park is really nice, But I just hate to see this going on here.

I had reservations at Poole Knobs and had never been to this campground. When we arrived, after driving almost 4 hours, there was no attendant on duty. We were told they would be there at 1:00 pm. We drove down to the site we had reserved, but there was no way we could get our fifth wheel in it, for we would have to back up hill on a narrow gravel road. The site was awful mess, as where ALL the sites in this park. We have camped in lots of COE parks but this is a disgrace to the COE parks for most we have visited were really nice. The grass wasnt even trimed or had been cut this year. If there was a minus rating I would give this park a minus 10 !!

We pulled into this "place" and it was a dump! Interior roads so rough and narrow and so many trees I didn't think I would make it thru with my 37 ft DP and Grand Cherokee. All I seen was junky looking old trailers with broken down decks not at all well kept up. I didn't even stop at what they called an office. I would not have stayed in this so called "resort" if they paid me. I really don't think I could have even gotten on a site with my rig. I finally made it out of there in one piece. The kid above says he don't know why all the negative remarks!! He must be the owners son. I would rate this place a minus if the rating went that low.

I was told I would have a site where I could get Dish satellite and Wi-Fi at the site. This was not the case. There are only 4 or 5 sites where satellite could be received. There was no Wi-Fi at my site, which was close to where the lady said the booster antenna was (inside a building). I asked why it wasn't outside. She said they didn't have a pole to put it on. The sites are very rough, and the roads leading to the sites are uphill and very rough. The owners are rather new. They are working on the campground and some of the buildings. Maybe they will improve some of the campground. This seems more like a "fish camp" then a family oriented vacation campground. I would not camp here again. After I stayed one night (after paying for 7), I asked if I could stay the second night and leave for I was dissatifed, but the answer was NO! This is a Passport America campground, therefore the $13.00 per day. I do not see how they could charge $26.00 for this kind of campground.

This is a beautiful campground in the most beautiful mountains of Tenn. The only thing wrong with this campground is if you travel any distance to get here then you may not get a good site. The best sites will have little bitty small pup tents where the office people that works here gives these sites to their friends. The problem is there is not anyone camping in these sites, they just put their little pup tents up, kind of like reservations. I always thought if you rented a site to camp then you should have a camper set up an be here camping. I think the parks and recreation committee should look into this. Other than that, it is a nice park.
