Campground is neat & trim, owners most accommodating, level sites, pond with lighted fountain, is quiet & peaceable, great spot to visit surrounding area. In response to the last review, we are a 13'6"motorhome and we did not even come close to touching the overhead sign. The sign is at least 14' in clearance. We use this Cg frequently on weekends as it's close to home. We are not the owners nor do we have monies invested in this establishment.
The office staff was friendly and professional and escorted us to our site. Site was just okay as it was not level and had a crown in the center. Was some stone base to the site, but needed to be leveled and more stone applied. The awning area was not level either, and sloped heavily away from the motorhome. Some sites were grass, which also needed to be re-leveled. The sites needed to be mowed, but as the weather was not co-operating, can understand why they needed some maintenance. All in all, it was okay for an overnight stay.
Sites in section "F" are large, fairly level, and are full hookup with cable TV. As this time of the year it's very close to their closing time. The park was not very busy, so we had our pick of numerous sites. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Would stay here again. But must say that on our next visit to Prince Edward Island, we will more than likely choose a park elsewhere, so that we may visit another area.
Have used this campground numerous times and is always first class. Quiet, well maintained, level sites, water, electric, wifi, and sewer without any problem. Please note that the website address has changed and has been updated.
Have stayed here many times and continue to return because it is a "first class" operation although it lacks some amenities that some may take issue with, namely an on-site camp store and a pavilion, but is quiet and peaceful. Owners do not tolerate any nonsense but are most accommodating in addressing anyone's camping needs.
We normally do not give a "10" to any campground as we have not seen "any" that warrant the perfect or near perfect 10 rating. That is until now. This is an excellent operated park. The park facilities and grounds are clean, well maintained, landscaped, and the sites are grade "A". The interior roadways and site pads are level packed gravel. A large clean swimming pool, game room, and lounge is available. Electrical power is only 30 amp, but is a true 30 amp. No problems with hookup systems. The park is operated by a husband and wife team that are friendly, and most accommodating to one's needs. Store/office area is welcoming, and store was stocked for your needs. Other campgrounds should observe the operation, and model their own operation by those of Balsam Woods. Previous reviewers have rated the park at a "10", and it truly is a "10". We will definitely return to the Moosehead Lake Area, as there is much to see and do. We highly recommend the area and this campground.
Owner has a lot to learn about how to deal with the public. Her customer skills are poor to say the least. Have stayed here previously to this owners purchase, and the park is going down hill fast. Upkeep, and maintenance of park facilities is poor. An example is the provided patio platforms on some of the sites are unlevel, and have more waves in the surface boards than the ocean. Poorly placed hookups, unlevel sites leave a lot to be desired, along with all the other short comings for the price paid. We will not return here.
Campground well maintained, facilities and amenities very good. We stayed at this campground in July 2006, and have learn of late that the campground is now a KOA. The name has changed to: Quechee/Pine Valley KOA. Now Vermont has two KOA's.
Campground is clean, and well maintained. Large number of seasonal units. Rental units available, campers and cabins. Large pond on site. Campground located within tall pines. Snack business on site serving ice cream, and hot dogs. Campground needs to re-level sites, as this may eliminate the small ponds, on the sites, during heavy rains. Water is absorbed quickly though. Campground itself is quiet, but highway noise is noticeable at times. Escort to site, staff most accommodating, and friendly, as are the seasonals. A campground for rest and relaxation. Will use again in the future.
Campground well kept, office staff friendly and accommodating. Camp store stocked to handle most needs. A small General Store is across from the campground entrance. Note: great ice cream !! Other campers friendly. Good base camp for visiting the area. Numerous points of interest. There are two camping areas, one upper and one lower. The only draw back was the lower pet walk area was small. Campground just off VT route 4, but road noise was not a point of concern. The camp ground was quiet. Will use again in the future as we did not see all within the region on a two day stay.
This campground is on the large size, but is well kept. The grounds are free of litter, and are maintained daily. My only complaint is the raised speed bumps, they cause havoc in a motor home even at the lowest speed. The office is clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly and most accommodating. The campground has two very different sections, one shaded with a large number of seasonals, and the other a large level open un-shaded area with very long pull throughs. Note that in the hotter summer months that air conditioner(s) would or maybe needed, and that a three dollar charge per day exists. This charge also is charged for portable electric heaters used during the cooler times. Electrical power is very good, but water pressure at times seems low, but returns to normal quickly. Laundry area could be updated, but was clean and useable. For being as large as it is, the area was very quiet. Would return and use again.
This campground is small in size, 60 sites. The campground buildings and grounds are well kept. The tent sites leave a little to be desired as they are not level at all. The 30 amp pull through sites need to have the electrical boxes updated, as some of the receptacles and doors are in bad shape, but are useable. Interior roadways within the pull through area were on the tight and narrow side, but again useable with caution. The roadways in the 50 amp back-in section were better suited to larger rigs, wider and turns not as sharp. The office area was clean and welcoming. The office staff was friendly and very accommodating. Pool closed on September 6th, as weather was warm, feel should have been left open. All in all, a good camping experience, and would return.
This park is well kept, and is very quiet. The owners are friendly and very accommodating. The campground is a Good Sam park and discounts apply. The camp store is well stocked for your common needs. The pull through sites are level and can accommodate big rigs. These sites provide water, cable, 30/50 amp service, but no sewer at the pull throughs. Dump station is nearby. Limited repair service is available on site. Weekend activities are normally provided. The park is very suited for weekend get aways, We will return, was a most enjoyable stay.
A small park that is quiet, well kept, and friendly. The office/store area is very cramped, and the store is very limited. Lacks a rec hall or pavilion for group gatherings. Some side by side sites, and the lake sites are close to one another. On the plus side, the park has wifi, and if a quiet, laid back outing is your desire, this is the one. Close to the city of Bennington, less than eight miles, and has most needs covered. Walmart, Price Chopper, Hanafords, (food markets), fast food eateries, and restaurants. Numerous shops exist within the city. Would use again, had a good time.
The campground itself is very good. All sites are pull through and are all full hookup sites. There are back in sites, but those are seasonal sites. The campground has problems though. The grounds needed better upkeep, as the sites were not mowed, nor cleaned after check out. Conditions that should be corrected. The campground could also use some additional lighting within the site area. After dark the only lighting is the outside light at the restrooms. The restroom/shower area was in need of clothes hooks. Have to agree with a previous posting as to the attitudes of the owners towards the RVing public. We were there at the same time the repairs were being made to the campground. It was not pleasant. We also had problems with reservations that were made for or by some friends, this occurred not once but twice during our stay. Their motto, "Where everyone is treated like family", is a misnomer, but then they may treat their family the same. The bad attitudes are going to cost them in lost sales. We had used this campground three years in a row for our yearly vacation to the State of Maine, but for 2005 we chose to spend our money elsewhere.
Campground and staff need lessons on welcoming someone to the campground. Attitudes by staff and owner were such that you question yourself about ever returning. Seasonals were not friendly, and gave one the impression that they own the place. Campground was quiet at night, but sure had it's supply of barking dogs by day. Was not big rig friendly, trees, branches, and the site was not level either. With changes in attitudes, could be a fun place to use. As we live close by, less than 50 miles, would have liked to have found a campground to use on weekends without the nonsense. We will not return, and will go somewhere else.
Have not used this campground in a few years. Upgrades have made this campground useable by motor homes, altho sites are not many in number. Enjoy this campground as it is quiet and more or less off the beaten path. Acadia National Park, on Mount Desert Island, can be very busy. In a previous review, the writer complained about the grounds being smoke filled. What I believe this person was experiencing was fog from the ocean. What the locals call "sea smoke". The fog is caused by temperature inversion. New owner is most accommodating, staff friendly and helpful when needed. Was great to stay here again. Will use again in the future.
A clean campground. The owners are very helpful and hospitable. We stayed three nights here and is on busy Route 2, but road noise is not noticeable. The only reason a higher rating was not given, is the condition of the entrance driveway, should be paved. Would use again, enjoyed our stay.
Stop over for two nights in the month of September during the off season. The campground was very quiet and staff friendly and accommodating. During the "season" a different world may exist. Would use again if needed. Close to the Conways and the Maine border.
Campground needs updating, some of the amenities listed are unuseable or have not existed in years. Electricity is very poor, and should only be used for lights only. Wattage was less than required for appliances. Not a resort as advertised. Full of seasonals, asked one couple about the low electrical power, was told it was a common occurrence. The next day, the power failed. Asked owner about the lack of electricity, and was given the run around as to reason and when to expect the electrical repairs to be made. The next day six rv units pulled out for more acceptable accommodations. This establishment should be avoided, as this place fails to supply amenities advertised.
