We had a great experience at this campground. The sites are pull through and level. There are only a few sites that aren't seasonal but the seasonals are very well kept and there is pride in ownership. The campground is very well located near Wildwood and Cape May and not far from the famous Ocean City, NJ. The Cape May zoo is right down the road and is a must (and it's free!). The staff at Driftwood are top notch and anything we needed was provided. The manager actually went above and beyond for us. Great place to stay if you are looking to enjoy Jersey's southern Shore.
First let me start by saying that if you want peace and quite this may not be the place for you. The facility has lots of great amenities (cafe, pool, general store, conference center, laundry facility) but with that comes people...lots of people. The place is very kid friendly which is a good thing if you have kids (and we do). And while we never encountered an "unruly" kids, they were ever present and sometimes you get a visitor taking a short cut through your site. Not the campground's fault by any means. The spots are very close together. We literally could reach out and touch the rigs on either side of us. We were in between a class A and a fifth wheel (we were in a 28' TT) and it was like being in a canyon. No room for awning and very little sun could get to us anyway. There is no "view" here. And yes, you are very close to the beltway so you will hear the traffic. Because of its proximity to DC this place is very popular. They offer a free Metro shuttle to the station which I'm sure is a big factor for lots of folks. But parking at the Metro station is free on weekends so we drove the 3+ miles and parked there. Overall, the price is a bit steep at $65 bucks. But folks pay it so good for them for charging that much. I must say that every staff member we encountered was more than friendly. The folks at check in were super knowledgeable and always ready to help. I probably would not go back simply because I like a little room to spread out. But I would recommend CHP for someone who wants to do DC for a few days. It is a great spot for that. For those of us who want to lounge and disconnect, this might be one to pass up. Happy Travels!!
