Site: #77. Monthly stay: $349 (plus electric). Currently 140 of the 170 sites are occupied and the owner stated that they currently were not taking on any more occupants due to the stress it would put on the park. This can be appreciated seeing as how most parks would try and fill all the spaces whether or not they could handle them. The owner of the park held a meeting on 2/18/14 which resulted in a good turnout. He seemed to be very genuine and laid out all the plans he had for the park. He also owns another park about an hour away. Other future plans are to add play areas for children and add additional areas where you can walk your dogs. Note: The owner has RV'd most of his life from when he was a child with his parents and still travels in his RV. Our stay at the park was very enjoyable. The seasonal residents where all very outgoing and friendly. Although there were a few families with small children the vast majority are retired married couples. Allot of the people have dogs and when we were there they were all well behaved. For those that like activities there are many nights when they hold card and board games. The rec room also includes 3 pool tables. Located next to the rec room in the building that houses some of the showers is an exercise room. This exercise room has several weight machines, stationary bikes,a glider and a nice treadmill. There is a hot tub enclosed in its own building. The swimming pool is covered and kept warm which we found rare in Texas. The staff that maintain the park seems to be doing a good job. There are plenty of showers and restrooms and they are kept very clean and in good working order. The park is located next to a local airport. There were only a few times at night that we heard planes and found out later by residents that it is sometimes used for training the military. There are 21 drive-thru spots in the front of the park. The remaining spots are all back in with a mixture of smaller and larger sites. All of the sites throughout the park are on cement pads. There is a mix of 30/50 amp sites. One of the improvements the owner mentioned during the meeting was that they will be upgrading the 30amp sites to 50. Wi-Fi is adequate for an RV park. There were a few times that I had to switch to my phones hotspot because it became to slow to use but that wasn't that often. When I did use my phones hotspot (Verizon) for banking and other things the phones signal was nice and strong. As far as the area goes Rockport is large enough to have most of what you need close by and for those things they don't have Corpus Christi is within an hour drive. Goose Island state park is also within a couple miles of the park. The only disappointed came when we wanted to extend our stay another 2 weeks and were told that it would cost $5 less than if we stayed another month. Those 2 weeks would have the electric included. We opted to stay an additional week. After staying there 5 weeks my wife got to be good friends with some of the lady's in the park and wood go down and play games almost every night. Again the regulars are very friendly. Camped in a motor home.
Good News - The park offers 50amp service which is a good thing and something that a lot of state parks don't offer. The distance to the beach is a little over 1/4 mile (from the middle of the park and even closer if your near the office). Wi-Fi is available which is a good thing as most state parks do not even offer that but the signal at best is weak. We are in site#26 and our I-pad drops the signal often. The campers two sites closer said their tablet was having problems connecting also. Our netbook with an antenna booster had better luck but still slow. If you have internet connection with your phone you will be happy to know the signal for AT&T and Verizon both work well. If your into running, the highway has nice wide shoulders but I would caution that it is a popular practice for slower vehicles to pull over onto the shoulder to let faster ones pass them by so be careful and as always run against traffic. The better alternative would be to run on the beach which I thoroughly enjoyed with the exception of the wind. The beach has a nice area for the family that is closed to vehicles which makes it safer. Each site has nice sturdy picnic tables with canopies. The sites are all back in and the lay out makes it easy to get into and setup. The sites are also very level. There are 3 shower stalls for both the men and the woman with plenty of hot water. The shower stalls are on the first floor and the restrooms are on the second floor. The people in the front office were friendly and helpful. Bad News - My biggest complaint which is really no fault of the park is the heavy winds. The wind were strong enough to cause us to pull one of our slides in so that the canopy would not tear. Showers especially could use some updating. This might include having sinks in the shower area. Bathrooms are not heated and the temps did get down in the 30's several nights. You are at least 5 miles from any town which may or may not be a problem for some. There is no site sewer hook-ups but there is a dump station near the entrance to the park Conclusion - All in all it is a very nice park and I would definitely stay he again
Laguna Shores Village Inc the owners are absolutely wonderful people. They have the perfect personality for park owners. Very outgoing and friendly. The work campers were also very friendly and willing to help with anything you needed. The month (12-20-13 to 1-20-14) we stayed there they hosted two potluck dinners that were fantastic. It gave everybody a chance to get to know the other guests. The park is located close enough to Corpus Christi shopping and far enough away to be nice and quiet. The park is well maintained with all the facilities cleaned every day. The clubhouse has very fast wi-fi and is open from 8-8. All the sites are back in with ample space. We have a 35' Class A and dinghy tow a 4dr Jeep Rubicon and had plenty of space for both in our site.
