We found the campground very clean. Wifi worked from our site but it was slow. There was a minimal cost. The pool was cool (not heated) but cleaned every day. It is around 20 minutes to Wells Beach but well worth the drive. The sites are much roomier than most campgrounds at the coast. There is a pond with several sites on the shore. There's a dock for jumping off. The kids swam in the pond because it was warmer than the pool. It is a small quiet campground.

The park is quiet and clean. There is only one bathhouse but I didn't find it crowded. Most sites have sewer but we called at the last minute and had to take a water and electric only site. The base rate was $40 for 2 people and we had to pay $5 per child per night. It was expensive but the campground was well maintained. They don't have seasonals but do rent by the month. They do not allow sheds and other structures so the sites are organized and tidy. There are two pools. One pool is heated and for senior citizens only. The other pool is large. No lifeguard on duty. There's not many structured activities for children although families are welcome. There was a hayride and bingo on Saturday night. The office is set up like a lodge with rocking chairs and checkers on the wrap around porch. They have a nice area set aside in the store for high-speed internet and dial-up service. We didn't try the internet but was told it was free. You can use dial up or use a network cable and connect to their network. We didn't see any information about Wifi. There is a small game room with pool table downstairs and some exercise equipment. There is also basketball, volleyball, mallet pool, horseshoes, shuffleboard, bocci and a small mini golf course. The petting zoo had 2 goats and a donkey. It is big rig friendly with two open field areas. The rest of the campground is wooded. Campground is within a mile of several gas stations, restaurants, a grocery store, Home Depot, Walmart, etc.

The pool was open but a little green. The lake is across a very busy highway. We drove over and parked in the boat launch area. We did swim in the lake. The beach is small but the lake water is clear and sparkling. In the Summer I can see it being crowded. They have boat rentals also. The owners were quite friendly to us. They did stress driving 5 mph in the campground and their no barking pet policy when we checked in but did not see them patroling at all. It was off-season so the campground wasn't even half full. The campground hosts did have a yippy barking dog that was left unattended though. The hot tub was nice. You have to get the owners to open it every time you use it though. The office/rec hall was large. They have several couches, a big screen TV, internet booths, pingpong, several video games, puzzles and board games to keep campers of all ages busy. Playground was large. Campstore was well stocked. We forgot spaghetti and the owner couldn't find any in the store at first. She was going to get some out of her own home. But she eventually found some. She went above and beyond to help. We will definitely camp there again.

We enjoyed our stay at First Landing SP. All sites were just a short walk over the dunes to Chesapeake Bay. We were there July 4th weekend. It was busy at the day use parking area. We enjoyed the 4th of July barbecue they provided and the fireworks from the beach. The rest of the week was quiet. They have a lot of nature programs that we took advantage of with the kids-crabbing, turtle hunt, sunset beach walk. There were beautiful walking and biking trails on the other side of the busy highway that runs through the state park. Some campsites are extremely close to this highway. Lots of noise during the day. Park is mostly shady tent sites. There was a grassy parking area for big rigs near the campstore/day use parking area but no hook ups. Campstore was one of the best stocked I have seen. Lots of camping/fishing stuff and tons of souveniers. Many well behaved dogs on the beach. I believe a lot of locals bring their dogs because we didn't see a lot around the campground. We didn't bring our pets because we wanted to visit Virginia Beach but the next time we go we will definitely bring the dogs. Only a short drive to Virginia Beach. Staff very friendly and helpful.
