This is a very nice park in a quiet neighborhood. Take 9th St. off from Main to avoid dips in the road getting there. The office will be on the South side, at Maple. The North side sites are long and spacious, allowing for your toad to remain hooked up. However, we were told Wi-Fi and cable is best on the office side, where the sites are smaller. We did not have a problem in #5 with our 39 ft rig and extra long truck. The hookups are in the right location, at the right height, in excellent condition. The grounds are neat and clean. The bathrooms/showers are spotless. We would stay here again.
The rate is Passport. The rating is for cleanliness. There is not a speck of debris anywhere. The gravel is level, and the sites are long and wide. There are a few pine and mesquite trees, and rocks outline the common areas which are cactus and other desert plants. We could not get on their internet, but now that we have mifi we just need Verizon, and that was good. We have stopped here in previous years and plan to return.
We have not stayed in a KOA for 5 years after a couple of bad experiences. Based on the reviews here, and needing to stop between Denver and the state line, we decided to chance it. We were not disappointed. The grounds are lush grass. The roads and sites are long, level, spacious and well defined. The view in one direction is an open space with horses and another direction is the Rocky Mountains. The restrooms and showers are very clean. There is a large building for social gatherings, with a kitchen, restrooms, and handicap shower. An exercise room is available, with great equipment. People were swimming in the pool. Also, there is a hot tub, and miniature golf. The staff was friendly and helpful. When we were leaving we saw landscapers raking, trimming, and sweeping. This is one KOA we will stop in again.
Overall this is a very nice campground and we think one of the best in the area, even considering a few glitches. We were in S10 with 50 amp and water, we had shade in the morning. Sites S5-12 are full hook up, but no trees. The reservoir level is down, but a water view was not important. We were able to get satellite through the trees, and Verizon cell and MiFi was good. Reservations are made on the internet, so you choose your site on a map with length descriptions, etc. No one was ever at the entrance and we talked to several rangers, who were driving around, about the park fee but no one ever had any. A $35 annual fee pass is available, for seniors, if they have them. Showers are $2 for 6 minutes and another $1 token for an additional 3 minutes. You must know if you want 6 or 9 minutes before the shower quits. It takes a few minutes to get hot water and figure out the direction of the handle. The shower building is nice, but it was not cleaned or swept in the 10 days we were there. Lots of bugs in that building and the free standing toilets. The weekends are very busy. We drove on Hwy 27 up to Hwy 14, and enjoyed several hiking trails, as well as close proximity to restaurants, groceries and laundromats.
What can we say that hasn't already been written? This is one of the best parks we have ever stayed in. We do not have horses, but loved it anyway. The western decor in the office and restrooms is very well done. The sites are long and spacious. We are looking forward to returning next year. The rate we paid is Passport.
This is a well maintained park. The owner is on the property from sunup to sundown. We initially reserved for 1 week and then extended to 3. The interior roads are blacktop. The grass between the sites is lush and green. The sites are level, but not extra long, so you will need to disconnect and park horizontal to the unit. The showers are concrete floors with shower curtains for privacy, but they are roomy and kept clean, daily. The laundry has a lot of machines and reasonable at $1.50 per load. An ironing board is provided. Wi-Fi and Verizon worked great.
The only positive I can come up with is good Wi-Fi at our site which was in view of the office/residence. Otherwise, this park is unkempt with clutter, trash, junk, dirt, leaves, weeds, etc. everywhere. There is no maintenance or cleaning of the park or facilities. There is a pile of rusty slides, rotten wood, old tires, and foot high weeds near the entrance. A big dumpster for aluminum cans is overflowing with cans and bags all around it. Dirt near the restrooms, showers, and pool could be shoveled. After 15 minutes in the pool surrounded by scum, algae and bugs we went to the state park. We will never stay here again.
Nice little park with a great view of a golf course and the distant mountains. There is just one row of sites, all gravel. There are some dips in the road and we did need to jack up the back a bit to get level. The Wi-Fi works great. There are no restrooms or showers. We did not see the laundry. The price is Passport. We definitely will stay here again.
This is big and spacious in every way. The sites are long, wide and level. The roads are extra wide. Most sites are full hook ups but some are electric only or dry camping. The laundry facility is very nice, as are the restrooms and showers. Access to the shower room is through the office, so the hours are 7am to 9pm. Just plan ahead. The private, individual shower rooms are big. Everything is clean. WiFi worked great except for one evening. We suspect someone was downloading movies. Up until 2 years ago this area was booming. Now it is partly abandoned. When the oil drilling stopped, the "permanent" residents left. We come out of our way for Among, the Thai restaurant. For the basics, we will always stay here.
The rate is first night Passport. After that it is $35.00. The best thing is the long pull-through sites. The roads are wide but full of pot holes. The sites are undefined. Mostly uncut weeds and gravel and no trees. There are a few picnic tables, but they are old, unfinished, and warped. We ask for a site with good WiFi and we were close to an antennae, but it was frustrating trying to stay on and very slow. We ended up going to the library. Which, by the way, is wonderful. If you don't have satellite, forget about TV. The laundry, restrooms, and showers are in the same building as the store/registration. Everything is pretty old. Restrooms and showers have chipped painted floors, and the stalls are very tiny. Only 1 shower has a fluorescent light partially over it. The others are pretty dark!
The rate is Passport. We drive the 30 miles out of our way between Santa Fe and Denver because it is so unique. This is a lovely, outdoorsy park. We like the premium tiered sites with tree tops on one side and a pine covered hill on the other. On one stay here I was taking a walk and came within several feet of what I thought was a large dog. It was a deer! And there are hummingbirds everywhere. Supposedly there is a resident fox one of the summer residents feeds, but we have not seen it. The restrooms and showers are small and in a trailer type building. During the years we have stayed here the landscaping has been continually upgraded.
We stayed in every other RV park in the area before discovering this one. This was our 6th visit and we will be back in the fall. We like the spacious sites. Ours has always been level. The restrooms and showers are spacious, private, and usually clean. WiFi consistency is an issue, but we think it is because of the wind. The location is wide open at a higher elevation. The owners are helpful and they put out a weekly newsletter. Their recommendations for restaurants are great!
This is a nice park except for the lack of WiFi, even in the office or on the computers that are available in the rec room. We have stayed here before, and we will again, because the restrooms are clean, the showers are great and the roads are good. The sites are easy in and out.
If you can get to your destination without stopping here, do it. The gravel interior roads are full of pot-holes. The restrooms and showers are not clean. We could not connect to WiFi at our site or in the office or laundry room. Other people were having problems but we were all told it was our computers. A positive is the long sites are fairly level.
The rate is for a week. We liked this park and will stay here again. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The sites are smooth gravel but not a level as they could be. We noticed most units were jacked up to the max. The bathrooms are all private with sink, commode, and chairs. They needed better cleaning. The rec room is spacious and lots of books and movies for trading. WiFi and cell service were both excellent. The town is close which is a real plus.
Nice park with good roads going to sites that are long, spacious and level. The showers, laundry, and recreation room are in one big building and everything is clean and well maintained. WiFi and cell service were both good. Cable TV is limited. There are lots of pine trees. This has been a dry year so the grass is brown, but they are trying to keep some going at a few sites. Big Bend Park is a bit of a drive, but I think this is the best park around.
Immaculate. Sparkling. This is one of the cleanest parks we have ever stayed in. The wide, huge entry leads to a nice big office, lounge, store, laundry, restrooms, showers, etc. All the roads are blacktop. Every 2 sites are separated by a fence, trees and thick shrubs. Each site is long, or wide enough for vehicle parking next to the RV. The gravel is raked after every departure. Any noise from the interstate did not bother us. We liked being within walking distance of wonderful Mesilla restaurants and shops. Wifi was excellent and cell signal was strong. We would like to stay here again.
The only thing negative we could come up with here is it is lacking "the ocean". To say anything negative would be picky. This is a wonderful park. It is well laid out, spacious, with nice extra touches such as outdoor fireplace, fountain and hot tub, all surrounded by seating groups. The entire park is cared for daily. The owners taped a thank you note on our door the day of our departure. No one has ever done that before! The park is located very close to a major mall, Safeway, and a short drive from downtown. The Wi-Fi is fast and consistent and cable is available. Some mature trees may interfere if you try to use satellite. If you want to stay here, call early as they are booked well in advance.
Signage to the RV park is lacking and the registration area is not well marked. The employees don't seem to care about customer service. The campsite configuration is interesting. Some back-ins, some pull-throughs to the side of the loop road. There are several loop roads and lots of space between all campsites. We were near an antenna so WiFi was great. Our cell phones would not hold a charge, and at 9pm we needed to call AAA for a battery jump on our truck. The park has no outside lights and is real dark. There is not a pay phone at the park so we had to use a flashlight and walk a mile to the lodge. The sidewalks are grown over with shrubs and weeds, so it was not a fun trip. Be aware that showers cost $2.00 and require quarters. The first one I tried jammed with six quarters but fortunately I had extra quarters and moved to another shower. One load of laundry is $1.00. We suspect it is inexpensive because the employees also use it and you may have to wait your turn. The setting is one of the best but we doubt if we would stay here again.
This is probably the best park in the area and priced right for what they offer. They are busy, so book early. Besides Bryce and Zion, there are lots of attractions and we managed to stay busy for a week. The WiFi is excellent. The bathrooms are spacious, but they could be much cleaner. Some weed pulling and gravel raking would improve the appearance. Most sites are pull through. The units seemed to be on level ground, but at some sites the toad may slat down.
All the good things mentioned in other reviews are true. There is an occasional odor from the refinery, but not so bad to keep us from staying here again. And, we could not hear the noise from the interstate. We liked the location and thought it was within reasonable driving distance to many attractions. The two biggest negatives for us was very inconsistent WiFi and the laundry closes at 8pm. The laundry room is set up in a wierd way so that it is necessary to go from corner to corner for different washers and dryers, and it is really chaos when there are several people trying to use the limited number of machines. It is not big enough, nor set up right for such a large park. It should be open much later.
With just a few tweaks this would rate a 10. The large entrance is blacktop. The roads are wide gravel, as are all the sites. The sites are level and have lots of space between them and some are extra long. There is lots of grass and beautiful views. The WiFi was consistent and fast. The decor in the office, restrooms and showers is the best I have seen anywhere. Lots of western memorabilia and the sitting room in the bathroom had a bouquet of fresh flowers. A few suggestions would be to dig up some of the weeds in the sites, fill in a couple potholes in the road, and close the showers for daily cleaning. A couple more hooks in the showers would be nice, and the women's toilets could have curtains for more privacy. There were 2 ironing boards that need new covers. There are some new picnic tables; the others could be painted. We will definitely stay here again.
This park has a lot of tents and a lot of families. Probably because the hot springs are next door. The shower stalls are private but the shower heads are very low, even for a short person. The restrooms are not as clean as they could be. We have been here before and will probably stay again because we like the area.
We have stayed here 5 times for the monthly rate. We like facing the open space to view the log cabin and grazing horses. It is clean, quiet, the Wi-Fi is consistent, and the owners are there daily to make sure everything is maintained.
This seems to be the only RV Park in Helena. It was totally full. We were adamant about wanting Wi-Fi and we were assured it was not a problem, but that was not the case. The system is not even adequate in the office. The restrooms are clean. We thought it was pricey for the setting and no Wi-Fi or cable.
This is the standard by which we rate all others. It is very clean, spacious, and well maintained. We have stayed here for as long as 2 months. This year was only 1 month. The rate I quoted is the monthly rate we paid. The owners and employees are on site and very conscientious. The recreation room and laundry is sparkling clean. So are the bathroom facilities and they provide locked privacy doors and dressing areas. The free WiFi was occasionally slow when the park was full. The excessive amount of rain this year probably was the reason for some of the standing water areas.
This is our 6th stay here. The location is close to many activities we like and areas we visit. We like the cleanliness, and WiFi is excellent. In fact, it has everything we require. I would rate it a 10 if the showers and toilets had doors, but the curtains do provide privacy.
