We will camp here again. Start with 10, then -1 poor in campground signage, -1 poor campground roads, -1 poorly marked sites, -1 poorly marked/oddly spaced hookups, -1 web site says wi-fi, but only available at camp store, -1 bathhouse 1/4 mile from trailer camp, -1 too few showers/toilets,-1 wi-fi signal not dependable-tested .3 down, .1 up (megs) when working. +1 no night lighting in trailer camp. This is a unique campground. Beautiful night sky set on a wooded ridge and renting bikes @ $15 to ride trail. Very laid back guy around the store (managing or running is too strong). They prefer cash. Plenty of hot water for returning Creeper Trail riders. 6 of us rode trail while the 7th took our truck into town to return riders and bikes. Campground has bikes on demand for $15. Roads to camp are good. Roads in camp are poor and steep and narrow and begging for grading and stone. Sewer connections very difficult to find as grass grows over them. I found 3 sites with WES, there may be more. About 10 are WE. Hook up services good. Dump site is on the ridge, too. Sites are not assigned-pick your own. There is no check in procedure and no rules sheet. First priority is growing Christmas Trees. 2nd is tent camping near the store for lots of Boy Scouts and youth groups riding the trail. Third priority is trailer camping which is 1/4 mile away from camp store and tents. We did not see big rigs. Road layout allows always driving forward so if a big rig can handle the roads and hills, the campground can handle the rig.
We will camp here again. Start with 10, then -1 bathroom ventilation (moist), -1 had to level 1", -1 road ruts, +1 clean and well drained dump. Water tight, electric solid. Our site was water/electric, no sewer, shaded with pleasant neighbors. We stayed Memorial Weekend for the 90th Old Time Fiddler's Convention, a joy. Went to bed with campground fiddling, woke to same. Pull-through sites with sewer, but no shade, go fast. We stayed in site 14. This campground is far from roads - quiet, with clear sky.
Close to interstate, but traffic not too loud. Good overnight stop or extended stay for woods, boating or fishing. Roads and sites asphalt. Our site was level. Very few pull throughs. Back ins deep and wide. Lots of available sites for our after hours arrival. Office closes at 5 pm. From rating of 10, -1 no toilet tissue in women's bathhouse, -1 lots of bugs in men's (must be opening somewhere), -1 dump site lid impossible to open without getting wet, -1 poorly marked, faded site numbers painted on asphalt. -1 poor checkout experience. Slow and irritating. Wish we found the after hours paperwork process to avoid meeting staff. Too much data collection using an awkward computer program with poor keyboarding skills by staff for a simple transaction. As we left staff was telling an active duty military that military discount applied to National Guard, only, and that was getting resolved. We will return, especially if we can schedule after hours arrival and payment.
Rate paid is Good Sam ($32) + 2 13 yr olds= $38 This campground breaks my scale. I rate it 10. Normally, I start with 10 and deduct for things the campground could control, like leaky water connections. This time I put it at 10, period. This is an Interstate (1/4 mile away) in route stop that becomes a destination. If you think in route campgrounds that are Big Rig friendly have to be sparce trees, think again. If you think Big Rig friendly has to be flat land, think again. If you think you've see the best bathrooms campgrounds offer, come here. We're a 17' hybrid (pop out) trailer with tents that do not hear the interstate because of the "hoot" owls. We are level, connected with no leaks, pull through. The Big Rigs have it as great. We've camped over 200 nights in 37 states since 2010 and these are the best bathrooms, period. Plenty of level, plenty of shade. Big Rigs do not required cutting trees. Come here to see how it is done. And this is not new, 1984 start, they know what they are doing.
Four of us. Two nights were charged $44 @ night. We extended a night at $40. Good Sam rate both times. Wi-Fi 2.4 meg down, .4 up. OK for email and checking web sites, not for uploading. Start with score of 10, -1 water connection under hatch in ground, -1 large trash collector lid either would not close or was off leaving many bags of trash exposed, -1 our back in site too short for trailer & truck so truck parked elsewhere (17' trailer & Dodge Dakota), -1 11 am check out. We walked to Heartbreak Hotel (short) and had burger dinner while watching big screen video's of Elvis concerts. Nicely done. This is a pure Elvis campground. To find it, find Heartbreak Hotel and go behind. Gated, patrolled, clean, good baths. We enjoyed Memphis and would camp here again.
Minus 1 point each for: Women's bathroom shower head poor (was quickly replaced), water connection very leaky & needs replacement, poor layout of men's showers, dump station water spout for cleanup too short to be usable. Site is level, large, and liberally spaced. Good place to weekend or longer camp alone or with family. Nice visitor center. Several activities. Great night sky. Quiet and dark. Wonderful bike areas & trails, but too far from major roads for overnight. No internet. Very limited phone. Fire rings in place & firewood for sale, plus plenty of grab your own. We will return.
Wi-Fi .5 meg down, 2.5 up. Ok for email. This is a Big Rig park and a park for an overnight while traveling. It is 100 yards from the interstate and noisy in our hybrid tent trailer unless we run the fan. Big Rigs arrive late and leave early. It is very clean, very spacious, very level. Looks like trees have been removed in favor of Rig space, so shade is limited and spaces with it occupied. Very friendly, helpful staff. One of few campgrounds we've use with no leaks from water/sewer connections. No leveling needed. Very nice picnic tables each site. Very clean restrooms and showers. The "store" very limited. Other than propane and an underused laundry and baths, nothing. Would like them to carry firewood, but we're the only one of 30 rigs that used it in two days. No minuses. Price is Good Sam rate, though not a Good Sam campground. Everything they can control, they do, and well. Location for on/off interstate excellent. If you can seal out the road noise, good place. We will not return because we are a hybrid tent trailer.
Wi-Fi, at 1.7 Mbps, was down not good enough for more than email. The shower water was not hot enough, but there were three or more hooks and a shelf in the shower. The purchased firewood was of poor quality. Not big rig friendly. Everything was back-in with either an up or down 5% slope. This is an adult camp not intended for children or overnight stops, though we camped with two 14 year olds overnight. Very quiet at night. It is in the middle of a residential area with a corner gas station and trailer park next door. Restrooms include showers and are extra clean and well designed. Expensive for what it is. We would not return.
Would stay here again. From 10 take: -1 no counter and very limited shelf space in bathhouse, -1 no seats in bathhouse, -1 inadequate hooks in bathhouse, -1 fire allowed in fire rings that do not exist, -1 noisy frogs (kidding) +1 night sky = no outside "general" lighting. This new campground will address things they know about. Most rigs probably don't use the bathhouse. Very generous site size, as if they plan to add another set of sites between existing sites in the future. Owner very nice and on top of things. Campground 150 feet from water.
From 10, deduct a point each for No Wi-Fi, no pool (recent rain), the clothes washers closed (drain problem), mini golf course in poor condition, the playground equipment is dirty, and "resort" advertised. We stayed one night. This is a good overnight that added "Resort" name and $15 to price, but does not have resort amenities. 250+ spots are residential. Bathroom very clean partly because it gets very little use. Extraordinarily long and level pull through sites. Good Sam rate. Saw no kids other than ours. Very good folks, but overreached on the advertising. We would not return.
Wi-Fi is not advertised and not available. Site is level and connections did not leak. This is a seasonal/work camp/residential campground. Over 1/2 the long units are live ins from TX, MI, OH and other states working on Pittsburgh projects as welders and steel handlers. Good people. We met folks from lots of places. Transient sites are poorly designed and laid. First, they are 10' too narrow, even for our 17' trailer. Second, they are back to back meaning one unit pull into one and another unit pulls immediately behind, though staff works real hard to keep this from happening. Third, W/E/S are tightly together so it was hard to put sewer in securely. Fourthly, W/E/S is at extreme end of site so if your sewer connect is more than 10' from end of camper, get an extension. Roads are very rough as if intended to keep traffic slow. Among the worst kept bathhouse we've seen. Office is not staffed. There is a sign to call if office is needed and response is quick. Bought wood at good price, but it was green. This is closest to PIT, and owners allowed us a generous time extension to get to PIT and back. We would not camp here again. From 10: -1 dirty showers, -1 tepid water (no temp adjust), -1 no bathhouse ventilation, -1 push button (20 sec per push) shower, -1 cobwebs and insect eggs in bathhouse, -1 trashy site including broken glass, -1 green firewood, -1 rutty roads, -1 office not staffed normal hours, -1 camp site design. + 1 staff very accommodating. If staff handled just a few of these items in their control, this could be a good place.
We would camp here again. Wi-Fi not advertised and not available. GPS directs to one exit north of exit to use: Davistown Rd exit. The campground can be seen from Interstate. This is a good overnight campground. It is near 24 hour gas & food and easy on/off interstate. When told we were overnight and in route, we got a pull through with WE30S that did not need leveling. Connections are tight. Maybe 10 campers are long term work campers with friendly and helpful people. Staff is great. Bathhouse and laundry are aged but spotless. In 27 days of camping, this was, by far, the best shower. No restrictors, timers, temp governors. Just powerful water hot enough to peel shrimp or cold enough to chill them - as you like it. There is, literally, room for two in the showers with a shower head on either end. This campground is a campground, not trying to be a resort or squeeze another nickel with another fee. Since camp was built the highway expanded adding noise from the highway, which is in sight. From 10: - nothing. They do not claim a thing they do not do well. The park welcomes families but does not have a pool or playground so I did not mark it family friendly, though it is.
Wi-Fi .58 up, .51 down. Strongest signal in the pool area. Signal is reliable from campsite, but slow. ATT phone full bars and 3G faster than Wi-Fi. Rate is for two adults and two 12 year olds with full hookups. If more KOA's were like this we'd be in KOA system. Wonderful site on heights on NE shore of lake with grand view of lake. Very peaceful and quiet. Wooded. Very clean pool kept at nice temperature. The entire place is kept clean. Easy access to sites. Pull through for transients like us. Mostly long term, seasonal folks most in "campers" that never move. Very helpful, friendly staff. Very caring about the park and their guests. This is a unique park. It is it's own destination and close to places fun to visit, too. From 10 subtract nothing. +1 exceptional helpfulness, +1 clean, +1 site.
This is a poor choice unless intending to dry camp. The only way we found to reserve a site is online which does not work for campers traveling, so this has to be a destination, not a stop over. For a tent or no hook up destination camper, this is a good camp. Rate is out of state rate. Desk manager assigned two sites that were not acceptable so we found a third. It needed picking up. We had no hook ups. Bathhouse had no ventilation, single temp water, which was too hot, and needed cleaning. Site was not level. We would not return. -1 not level, -1 bathhouse not ventilated, -1 bathhouse water too hot & not adjustable, -1 bathhouse not clean, -1 site trashy, -1 no listed way to call ahead day of arrival, -1 expensive, -1 from desk staff are not campers & not well trained.
Wi-Fi at laundry only. $45 is the 50 amp rate which we were charged though we are a 30 amp unit. Front desk assigned us a 50 amp only site so we got a new assignment. This is a long time family owned place with mainly seasonal or year around campers. Overnighters are few and camp without shade but close to bathhouse. Very quiet. Train did not bother us. Very good firewood supply and quality. Water connection leaked badly. Bathhouse uses a key and the shower was great. A sticky, clay type sand had been hauled in for site fill, but site still not level. Pot hole crew working on long neglected road leading beyond where we camped. We would not camp here again because of sand, 1 water connection, and front desk staff.
Rate is Good Sam rate. Wi-Fi intermittent at .08 down, .42 up. This is at the Video Game room where connection is supposedly the best. US dollar and Canadian dollar exchanged at par. Showers require $1 Canadian coin (Loonie) for 5 min. Laundry good ($2 wash, $2 dry). Bathhouse clean. $20 deposit to receive key. Site level, clean and connections tight. Camp is substantially long timers who have a community thing going. Camp Store well stocked with food and parts and stays open until 11 pm. Easy, pretty 20 minute drive to Niagara Falls parking area. Very quiet camp. Loudest things we heard are crickets. We heard none of the mentioned noise makers. Unusual site layout with very wide sites designed for parallel into more than back in. Plenty of site room. Delightful life guarded pool. We would camp here again. -1 staff did not explain parallel site system. -1 bathhouse faucets cut off as quickly as released. -1 should not advertise Wi-Fi, -1 pool 4.5 feet deep at deepest. +1 setting, +1 store.
Price reflects added $3 day for internet, which we did not use and $1 for hot shower water. Rate we paid is $38. This is a seasonal and residential camp with scheduled activities. It is kid heaven. It is in wetlands fully of walking, flying and swimming creatures and quiet except for campers. Good campfire wood and camping sites near or away from "action". Great place to bike, walk or jog but not to drive. Front desk staff and camp store are great. Closest to tent camping "in the woods" possible. Entire camp needs a working weekend to pick up site trash and scrub showers and bathrooms. Showers and bathrooms need ventilation. We would return, except my wife, which means we would not, sadly. From 10 -1 Bathrooms, -1 showers. +1 camp staff. +1 value
We are not CT residents and not CT registered campers. This adds to cost of a night. We'd been better off at other camps in the area at lesser cost and higher service. Camp has outside sink to clean/rinse dishes. This camp is attractive because it is wide open with lots of room between sites and areas and it is on the sea shore. We would not stay again. From 10 -1 not level, -1 water faucet leaked, -1 value.
Rate is stated rate for W/E. No sites have S. We showed up with no reservations and place full so we paid $53 to dry camp (same rate as tents, but they have electric). Security staff knows how to get into NYC and is very visible and available. Hand out materials and instructions very good. If Liberty Harbor were not near Liberty Park and public transit, it would fail. That is the only reason to camp here. The "grounds" are trashy. Overflowing trash was not picked up for a day. Bathroom not serviced enough. The dump station, something every one has to use, is poorly designed and maintained. (Fresh water tanks are filled from dump station hose.) Access to Liberty is exciting for a first timer. We will not return. From 10, -1 Trash pick up, -1 Trashy grounds, -1 fresh water not separated from dump, -1 dump grade accumulates water around dump rather than away, -1 Bathroom not serviced. +1 quality of area information and local knowledge.
Wi-Fi in community center .98 down, .31 up. This is a campground in a system of campgrounds per-selling camping nights. We are not members and paid the rate quoted. Our choice of sites. We could not find one level. Site trees sparse. This is a very secluded site. Campground noise substantial. Bathhouse shower on 10 secs per push valve with warm/cold not adjustable. Large, spread out campground. Good security patrol. From 10, -1 not level, -1 bath house shower control, -1campground noise, -1 services too spread out. Overpriced for us. We'd not return.
Stated rate is $54 for two. We had two 12 year old kids = $62. Did not use internet. Other campers reported it difficult to access and slow. Site was level. Water hookup leaked. Bugs on ground and in air. They closed pool and office earlier than listed hours. This is an old site that has kept up, bit by bit, with level asphalt camper pads and earlier install porch pads. Regulars are common. We side tripped to Philadelphia so for our purposes we were not much in camp. -1 water leak, -1 close office early, -1 close pool early, -1 ground bugs. We would stay here again.
Internet not functional. Electricity at our site failed. Steady rain got both. Staff willingly adjusted price in half because of electric failure so we paid less than $48. No one present when we arrives and no late check in procedure. We had no reservation and staff was at a meeting. We picked our site and settled next day. This park has plenty of space between sites. Our pull through site was level. Water connection leaked. Bath has pleasing single temperature setting. We will return when in area. We caught them on a bad hour in a bad day. From 10, -1 internet, -1 water leaking, -1 paths need fresh gravel, -2 no one present at check in or system, -2 electricity at site failed. +1 price adjustment.
No reliable internet at site. Water connection tight. Electric good. 1 bar ATT. Level site. Moderate shower pressure. Very clean pool. Nice concrete pad at each site for camper entrance. This is a family destination camp with substantial lake waterfront and kid oriented stuff. Very quiet. Very pleasant bird and animal noises and good place to have a campfire and listen to and watch birds. We will return. From 10, -1 Internet, -1 shower pressure, -1 bath house needs update, -1 potholed entrance road. +1 bird songs, +1 camper entrance pad.
Would stay again. Wi-Fi 6.6 down, .6 up. Reliable. No hook up problems. Men showers poor. Needed 4' of planks to level. Sewer hook up at extreme limit of 10' hose range. Need shower heads delivering pressure and steady pressure. Need tile. Nice fire rings and wood supply. Nice picnic tables. Nice site locations and spacing. Very nice support staff. Located on Hwy 49, yet well away from Hwy noise, but owls and birds persistently noisy. Activities well done with see-saw, swings, bike trails and $2 putt-putt. We came here to relax and did. Our price reflects 1 extra child. From 10 -1 showers, -1 bathhouse, -1 level, +1 staff =8/10.
Rate was $35.80 tax included after Good Sam discount. Five night stay. Wi-Fi: .31 up/ .70 down max. Tengo. Very difficult to connect and very difficult to send email. Bathhouses over 100 yards (300 feet) from about 40% of the sites. No campfires. No at site garbage. No outside kitchen sink. Water hook up leaked. No screening between sites. Sites are level. Water pressure and electricity are good. Black/Grey water connection is good. Excellent picnic table. Grounds kept very clean. Water surrounds park where highways do not, but highways are well screened. Nice Publix grocery store near. Very good laundry. Interior roads paved and in very good shape. Nice playground and pool. This campground is for large motorhomes. It can handle small stuff (we are a 17' HTT (pop out)), but is designed for folks who shower, cook and clean in their rigs. Plenty of maneuvering room and anything close to an overhanging limb trimmed back. We'll look elsewhere next time for a fire ring. From a 10 subtract 1 each, Wi-Fi, fire ring, bugs, kitchen sink, site garbage, water leak, bathhouse distance. Add 1 for extraordinary maintenance, cleanliness, play area and road condition exceeding expected. To another comment: There are 12 very effective speed humps within 1/2 mile of main road. Net score 7. For a Motorhome it is a 10.
We would stay here again unless we needed wi-fi. Wi-fi is .13 up, .13 down & variable from one server. Not receivable on others. Sites were level. No boards required. Very well groomed with clean grounds. Pool exceptionally clear. Strong showers. Toilet, sink, shower & chair per shower stall so it is a dressing room. Water/Sewer hookups do not leak, well positioned and above ground. About 1/2 of sites occupied. Nice folks at desk. No trees. Nice playground area. Downgrade from 10 for no bathmat, poor shower ventilation, poor wi-fi.
Would stay here for a night again, but not more. No wi-fi. Advertised and routers identified, but no signal to measure. Water and Sewer hook ups are recessed in ground and not tight or easy to use. Water leaks. Level site. No boards needed. Strong, powerful shower with real hot water! Mature tress with all sites wooded. Interstate noise can be heard, but not an overnight problem. Very relaxed and attentive front desk. Tools and repair kit available. Departure mints a treat. Downgrade from 10 for wi-fi, leaking connections, recessed connections, interstate noise.
Camped in a pop-out (HTT). Good Sam Rate. 2 adults, 1 child. Camped here a year ago and would camp again. Wi-Fi 8.3 down, .53 up, open (no code). Reliable. 2' board to level. Utility hook ups do not leak. 27 of 97 sites vacant Wed of July 4th week. No shade until ornamental trees grow. Very well equipped with pool, playground, dog walk areas, Bath & laundry 24 hr. Large showers. Off Interstate so quiet but GPS or signs easy. Well groomed. Sites are close together. Paved. Mostly large travel trailers, 5th wheels and RV's. Downgrade for weak shower head pressure.
WI-FI 4.3 down, 4.7 up. No codes to connect. Water connection tight, electric (30 amp for me) steady, nicely engineered dump receiver. No leveling needed. Sites are close together so slide of 5th wheeler beside me would have extended to my site picnic table if table sited differently. Very clean, groomed park. Surface is good pavement for trucks and RV's, thick grass between sites. Mostly 5th wheelers and up. This campground is part of a park with public activities ongoing, a PAR course, outdoor auditorium and significant camper storage. Management very pleasant and efficient. My rate is Good Sam discount. For touring Independence and KC, exceptional location. Laundry nicely done and marked. Noise was not an issue. I down rated for two of three men's shower heads were not working well and next site sewer connection was within 8 feet of my site picnic table. Up rate for the only campground in 11 this year that has a practical, usable recycling container (aluminum can). Net 10-2+1=9.
Rate is for WE on a shared site but since there was no one else on the site it functioned as a pull through. Sewer was available at the site but since we did not use it we were not charged. This campground charges for running AC, too, but we did not need AC. Level site. No boards needed. Wi-Fi .31 down, .32 up. Water connection did not leak. Nicely spaced sites with mature trees. Well off highway and deep in woods and fields. Dark and quiet. Real camp feel. Amazing display of fire lighting bugs in an adjacent field. Well graveled roads. Tricky to find from the highway but GPS took us right here. Those with reservations were called well ahead by camp admin to warn of public road flooding in area. Shower mats needed. Nice play area. Downgraded for insufficient signs to camp from Hwy 29, showers and lack of utility sink for dishes (sought by cabin users),
This is what happens when a campground is built by someone who does not camp. Water and electric connections for about 1/2 the sites are 60 feet apart. Best use of dump site is clockwise drive around a counter clockwise laid out loop. Loose gravel on soft ground. Location is quiet with mature trees and good space between sites and a feel of being in the woods. Camp Host very experienced, cheerful and helpful. Campground is frequented by locals. Very careful positioning of camper and extension hose needed to hook with water and electric and camper position not best for site, picnic table position and truck parking. Heavy rain (5") washed large amount of gravel from sites and softened site so it was iffy pulling out, but these are known problems that have not been addressed. Bathhouse is clean, bright and roomy. If campground admin listens to host, this place will be usable. Water connection loose. Down rated for gravel, utility location, narrow pad, drainage, poor direction signs to campground and water connection leaking. Use this campground if no other option.
We were stream side near the laundry. Interior pull through spaces are laid out differently. Water connection did not leak. Wi-Fi .25 down, .08 up and spotty. Enough to advertise Wi-Fi, but not provide it. Pot holes limit interior road speed well. Stream front campsites are back in, nicely spaced. WES awkwardly placed requiring precise camper location and extension on water. Campsites well graveled. Laundry generous on time with $1.00 wash, .50 dry. Two washers, two dryers. Bathhouse and Laundry will be inadequate for numbers when camp is full. Published address not in GPS. Short distance south of Hannibal on 79 with dominate entrance sign for Mark Twain Cave, not campground. Very quiet with mature trees. Our stay pleasant because campground lightly rented while here. Good playground area. Down rated for roads, laundry/bath ratio vs campsites, poor drainage in grass between stream sites, tricky utility position, price for what is sold and controlled.
