I grew up in this area and have always loved this park. It is located on a 150 acre lak. You can picnic, fish, hike, etc. They have a facility where you can play tennis, soccer, basketball, etc. The only complaint I had this time would be with the bathrooms. I feel they could have been maintained and cleaned better than they were. We did come on a busy week (spring break) and there was a lot of traffic in and out of the bathroom which may account for it being messy. It would not deter me from going again because this is such a nice park and after all you are "camping". They are pet friendly and have a very nice staff. You can come and go as you want and they do not lock the gate at night which is very helpful for late arrivals. All in all don't pass this park up.
Well kept COA campground. Not that hard to find off the main road. The campground is not that far from either Columbus or West Point, MS. Pet allowed and staff is very friendly. This is a very quiet campground. Bathrooms and showers are maintained very well.
This is a beautiful Corp of Engineers campground. It is kept up really nice. The brochure says that it is situated on a bluff. That is true however it is was not open. We arrived at the bluff to go fishing and went all the way down to the bottom (by stairs). We were there about 20 minutes and the park ranger came and told us the area was closed due to a few planks missing on the dock. We didn't feel like it was a was a big deal but we complied with the ranger and took our gear and left. It was a shame too because it was such a nice area to fish from. We didn't have a boat so our fishing was pretty much over at that point. I say all this to make the point that if you want to fish then you need to have a boat until they fix the dock off the bluff. I was just expecting the COE to have maintained it because camping season was in full force. All in all though for the camping experience it is a nice campground.
