We have stayed at this campground twice before and enjoyed it. This year we arrived on Thursday June 26. The rate was 47 a night for full hookups. However starting on Friday June 27 8 days before the 4th of July they charge 58 per night. I have camped 14 years and camp between 50 and 60 night per year and I understand campgrounds charge holiday rate. But to charge 8 dollars a night more for the long of a time before the 4th just to much. They only told me the total when I made reservations. I guess the next thing will be Holiday month. Funny when I asked if a mistake was made at the office I was also told it was a Canadian holiday so we charge higher rates( Port Huron in near Canada but in the USA ) I wonder if campgrounds in Canada charge higher rates for our American Holidays?? The campground is still nice and if in the area I would return but I'd make sure how long they charge holiday rates. I would think with the 4th of July on Friday to charge holiday rates for Fri, Sat, and Sun. would be fair.
Just got back from this campground and I must rate it lower than the others here as I like grass not dirt!. This campground is an old Yogi bear campground thats in the woods with lots of trees but we didnt see any sites with any grass. I don't need a lawn but like grass and not dirt. I've camped for 13 years and only paid $45 or more twice ever, once at Walt Disney world, and once at fun N sun in St. Petersburg florida. These two I would pay $45 or more and will someday return. Timber ridge I wont! On the plus side the pool was nice. Only had to drive to it because we didnt' want to walk through dirt there and back.
I felt this campground was over priced. the sites were close together and the pavement was very un level. When we got there we had to wait for 1 hour as it wasnít check out time and the people hadnít left yet. I had no issues with this. However when we were taken back to our site the people were still there. The worker said they would be about another 30 minutes to unhook their unit. He wanted to take us back to the office to wait. I said "can't I have the site next to them", he said OK and called the office on the radio and told them that due to the other guy still there we were moving to site X. While we were there for 3 days we had 3 notes left on our door that told us we were on the wrong site and 4 times a worker knocked on our door to tell us the same thing, each time I had to go through the whole story why we were there. After the 3 notes and 4 knocks on the door I had enough and went to the office. They said they were sorry and gave us one free night so it ended up averaging about 41 a night not 62 and that was just about what it was worth!
