Yet another relaxing, beautiful stay at Hazens Notch Campground. Stayed there 3 nights over Labor Day weekend and had a very relaxing time. Quiet and peaceful. My wife and I had a great campfire where we watched the stars for hours. In the morning of the last day we discovered a deer fawn had slept nestled under the back of our our trailer to get out of the rain and munched wild apples. What could be better than that. We are already looking forward to camping there again! The owner helped my sister in law back her camper in because her husband was at work. He made sure everything was taken care of and even came by later to see if we needed anything.
What a beautiful diamond in the rough. The views are spectacular from the top of Hazen's Notch Mountain! The owner does a great job with this small campground and is a wonderful host. We stayed 4 nights during a charity event called Bare Bones and had a blast! It is great place to hide away as there is no cell service. You can just DE-stress because there is no Wi-fi or TV to stress you out with the evening news or emails and phone calls. Nice sites with trees and open sites, but there is a limited number of sites with full hookups, so if you plan to go, you should call ahead to to check if they are available. If you ride a motorcycle, as we do, the surrounding area of the North East Kingdom is beautiful to ride through, and a trip around Lake Willoughby is a must. We plan on staying again over the Labor Day weekend and again and again!
Stayed at this campground to be close to the Great Escape. Sites were very large and we had no problems pulling in as 85% of them are pull through sites! Beautiful sites with trees separating you from your neighbors. There are two beautiful ponds with paddle boats. All roads are paved and in perfect shape. They even pick up your garbage! Plenty of things to do in the area with shops and of course the Great Escape just down the road. Lots of activities for the children with 2 movie theaters on site plus baseball field, tennis courts and shuffle boards. Very nice campground to stay at, and we look forward to going back. Can be a bit pricey for some.
We love camping at this campground in the early spring and late fall the best. Gets very, very busy in the summer (June - September) so we choose not to camp there. We usually camp April and October and love the quiet of the campground as not many people like this time of year because of the cold weather. Staff is friendly and helpful but sometimes a bit unorganized with reservations. Seasonal campers can be a bit disrespectful of the rules of the campground as well as quiet time hours. From what I can gather the owners do not live on site, so there is little to no enforcement of the rules and regulations for these folks. Overall a good experience because of the the lack of people during our stay.
We stayed 2 weeks at this particular campground and loved our stay. When the sun went down the park turned nice and quiet. It seemed as if all the campers respected the quiet of the night time hours, and it was a pleasure to have a quiet campground to relax in. The sites were large enough for our Toy-Hauler, although backing in can be a challenge if your neighbors are parked close, but we made it. Staff was very friendly and helpful with everything we needed. New pool was great to sit by, and the sea breeze was wonderful! Faster WI-fi would be the only thing I wish was better,(faster speeds) but since it was a free service one should not really complain I guess. Over all this is a great campground, and we plan on another 2 week stay next year!
