This is a clean park with continuous distant traffic noise. Sites are grass; some are sandy, some have some gravel. Sizes and amount of level vary. There are lots of trees, so sites are shady. In Autumn and Winter, leaves will fall on your roof. Roads are asphalt, a bit narrow, in very good condition. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. Water pressure can be low. The water has a somewhat stale smell. Verizon LTE works well. WiFi is strong, and usually fast. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.50), 2 dryers ($1.50 for 45 min.) The rate shown is the daily rate with Good Sam. Credit cards are accepted for short stays; for monthly, payment is cash or check. The total monthly rate is $452 for the first month, $428 per month for the second and third months, then $128 for the fourth month, plus electric ($0.15/kWh).

There are two campgrounds, this review is for the newer. This is a fairly clean park with occasional aircraft noise. I say fairly clean because of the large number of cigarette butts. Sites are long, narrow, near-level gravel and dirt, separated by narrow strips of grass. There are no trees, picnic tables, or fire rings. Roads are wide dirt and gravel in good condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi signal is strong near the antenna, but I was unable to get online. Verizon LTE works well. There are showers somewhere in the fairgrounds complex, but they are locked. One must phone and get a staffer to open them. The entrance is on the west side of Youth Center Drive at 35.79633 -78.71773, marked Horse Complex Event Parking Only H7. Turn left at the fork, and drive 0.3 miles to the entrance on the left. Pick a site, phone the number on the sign, and someone will come out to take your payment, cash or check.

This review is for campground 1, the closest to the entrance. This is a clean, quiet campground. Pull-through sites are long, narrow, near-level crushed rock, separated by wide grass strips, with little shade. One electric pedestal is about midway between each pair of sites, so getting the electric cable to reach can be awkward. Back-in sites are grass, not level, shady. Roads in the park are wide asphalt in good condition. Roads in the campground are narrow crushed rock, in fair condition, with one low tree limb. Registration is self registration, cash only. Campers do not have to pay the $2 park entrance fee. There is a dump. Verizon 3G data service download speed (kB/s): max 162, typical 60.

This is a clean parking area with some train and traffic noise. Truck drivers sometimes use it as a rest area, so there are sometimes idling diesels. It's near level dirt and fine gravel. After a heavy rain, there can be large areas of standing water. Roads are wide concrete in excellent condition. The dump is free. Two potable water spigots are located by the tree line along Avenue N. Staff are friendly and helpful. Verizon data service download speed (kB/s): max 266, typical 120.

This is a clean park, except for the waterfowl excrement. There's traffic noise during the day; at night it's quiet except for the geese and peafowl. Sites are level or near-level concrete and gravel, narrow, close together, separated by grass. There are trees. Some sites are shady, some trees have low limbs. After rain, some sites have large puddles. Roads are wide asphalt in good condition. A free dump and potable water are by the restrooms. Verizon data service download speed (kB/s): max 120, typical 25. Payment is self-registration, cash only, with a 7-day stay limit. The campground entrance is unmarked, just north of the main park entrance.

This is a clean park with frequent train noise. Sites are dirt, near level. A row of trees gives some shade. Roads are dirt, wide in most places, but narrowing at one turn. Verizon data service download speed (kB/s): max 169, typical 50. The first night is free; each additional night is $20 up to a limit of 7 nights. Payment is self-registration, cash only. The entrance is at 40.24908 -103.62334, marked by a sign on the opposite side of the road.

This is a fairly clean park. I say fairly clean because of a few irresponsible dog owners. It's close to I-70, so there's lots of traffic noise. Sites are dirt or gravel, not level. Each site has electric (20 amps only) and water (only during summer). There's one dump. The dump's sewer connection is surrounded by metal rods, making use of a right angle sewer hose termination impossible. Staff are friendly and helpful. Verizon 3G data service download speed (kB/s): max 119, usually much slower. The restrooms are a few steps down from ground level; the floors were flooded.

This is a clean park with some traffic and train noise. Sites are large, level gravel. Some sites have trees, and shade. Roads are wide asphalt in very good condition. Staff is friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is Tengo - free for the first 14 days. The signal is strong; downloads can get over 400 KB/s, but are usually much slower, and often hang. Verizon data service usually works well. Laundry: >6 top-loaders ($1.50), >5 dryers ($1.25). Checks are not accepted. Rate is total with Good Sam and tax.

This is a clean campground with occasional distant train noise. Sites are dirt and gravel, not level, with many small trees and some shade. Roads are asphalt, somewhat narrow, in good condition. Verizon data service is sometimes moderately fast, but usually slow. Credit cards are accepted.

This is a clean, quiet campground. Sites are near level gravel. Each site has a picnic table and shelter. There are lots of small trees, but little shade. Roads are asphalt, adequately wide, in good condition. There are 7 RV-only sites for rigs up to 32 feet, and smaller rigs can fit into some of the other sites. Verizon data service works very well. Potable water is available at the visitor center (max 5 gallons). Generator hours are 8-10 AM and 4-8 PM. Payment is self-registration, cash only. Although the roads within the monument are good, the roads from Highway 262 in Utah to the monument entrance are rough, with potholes, many cattle guards, range cattle, and a short unpaved section. I didn't drive the roads from the Colorado side.

This is a clean park with some distant train and traffic noise. Sites are dirt and a little gravel, not level. Each site has a concrete pad; most are cracked. Most pads have picnic tables. Sewer connections are below ground level in small wells with concrete sides. Some wells are too deep to use a sewer hose with a right-angle termination, such as a RhinoFLEX. Space between the concrete pad and the sewer well is tight. Sewer connections are not threaded. Electrical pedestals have 20 amp and 50 amp outlets, but no 30 amp outlets. There are lots of pine trees, and some sites are well shaded. Roads are asphalt and dirt, wide, in fair condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. Verizon data service works well. Showers are clean but lack privacy. Rate is total with AAA or senior (55+) discount.

This review is for the upper parking area, not the beach. This is a clean, quiet parking spot. It's near-level dirt and fine gravel, with room for roughly 25 rigs of any size. There are no trees. Roads are asphalt, in excellent condition. A dump and potable water are by the host's site. Verizon data service works very well. Rangers are friendly and helpful. Both a ranger and the host told me that the 14-day limit is not enforced. Some dogs are off leash, but their masters seem sensible about it. Camping is $10 per night ($5 with a senior pass). An entrance fee is also required. This is $15 for 7 days if you don't have an annual Glen Canyon pass ($30), an Interagency Annual Pass, a Senior Pass, or an Access Pass. After hours, a vending machine dispenses passes. It takes MasterCard, VISA, AmEx, or Discover, but not cash.

This is a fairly clean park. I say fairly clean because of a very few irresponsible dog owners. There's some aircraft noise during the day, but at night it's very quiet. Sites are dirt, level or near-level, in various sizes. There are many trees but little shade. To protect against freezing, water spigots are below ground level, with the threaded part facing up and the valve handle facing down. This makes turning the valve handle awkward. Sewer connections are not threaded. Roads are asphalt, gravel, or dirt, adequately wide. There are lots of big speed bumps. Staff are friendly and helpful. In the short-term area, Wi-Fi is strong and usually very fast. Verizon data service works well. The showers lack any separation between the shower itself and the dressing area. Laundry: 8 front-loaders ($1.75), 8 dryers ($0.25 for 8 minutes). Cable: CableOne NTSC and Clear QAM. The Willow Dells Trails are accessible directly from the park and have some great views.

This is a clean park. There's traffic noise during the day. At night it's much quieter, but there's still some noise. Sites are wide, near-level dirt; some have a concrete pad. There are a few high palm trees but no shade. The 30 amp outlet at my site wouldn't fit my cable, so I needed to use a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter. Roads are wide asphalt in good condition, but many vehicles parked partly on the roads reduce the effective width. Staff are friendly and helpful. WiFi is good in the clubhouse and at a few sites very close to the clubhouse. Verizon data service works very well. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.25), 1 front-loader ($1.25), 5 dryers ($1 for 45 minutes); there's also a clothesline. Credit cards are not accepted.

This is a clean, quiet park. Sites are very old asphalt and dirt, not level. My site had a big mud puddle, and other sites had even bigger puddles. There are some trees but little shade. Roads are narrow, very old asphalt, in poor condition. Staff are brusque and unhelpful. Verizon data service works well. Cable is New Day, NTSC only. Cable usually works; sometimes it just says "acquiring satellite signal." Rate is total with tax; no discounts are offered.

This is two fairly clean, near-level asphalt parking lots. I say fairly clean because of a small amount of broken glass, a few irresponsible dog owners, and a small band of wild horses. There are no specific sites, just pick a spot. It's usually very quiet during quiet hours (10 PM to 6 AM); at other times there can be generators, early anglers, partying, and aircraft noise. Hosts are friendly and helpful. On earlier visits, Verizon data service usually worked well, but during my last stay in 2013 mid-March, data service was very slow when it worked at all. Previous reviews have listed places to buy Tonto passes; they're also sold at the Safeways at 1855 N. Power Rd. and at 9101 E. Baseline. A nature trail starts at the southwest corner of the western (larger) parking lot.

This is a fairly clean park. I say fairly clean because many of the sewer connections lack threaded caps. Sometimes there's a rock, sometimes nothing. Sites near the street or the bowling alley next door can be noisy at night. Sites are level or near-level dirt next to a concrete pad. There are lots of palm trees and small orange trees. There's little shade, but sometimes there are rotting oranges on the ground. Roads are wide asphalt. Near the entrance they are in excellent condition. Toward the back, the asphalt is cracked or missing. The manager is friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is good in the clubhouse and at a few sites very close to the clubhouse. Verizon data service works well. Laundry: 6 high efficiency front loaders ($1.75), 6 dryers ($1.25), all card-operated ($2 for a card). Credit cards are not accepted. Rate is total with Good Sam.

This is a fairly clean park. During the day there's traffic and airplane noise, but it's quiet at night. Sites are fine gravel over dirt, level, next to a concrete pad. There are small trees but little shade. Roads are adequately wide asphalt, in fair condition with no potholes. Hosts are friendly. Wi-Fi is good. Verizon data service works well. The shower is clean but lacks privacy. Laundry: 4 top-loaders ($1), 4 dryers ($1). Credit cards are not accepted. Rate is total with Good Sam.

This is a clean, quiet park. Sites have a thin layer of gravel over dirt; they are near level, in various lengths. Sites are separated by strips of grass. Most grass strips have a tree, but there is little shade. Roads are wide gravel and dirt, in good condition. Hosts are friendly and try to be accommodating. Wi-Fi is usually good, at least near the office. Verizon data service works well. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.50), 2 dryers ($1.50 for 60 minutes). Rate is total with Passport America.

This is a clean park with some distant train noise. Sites are narrow, adequately long, and level. Sites are separated by grass strips with automatic sprinklers, one of which washed my toad each night. Roads are wide, in good condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. WiFi works well. Rate is total with Good Sam. Credit cards are not accepted.

This is a clean park. Well, park is a stretch. It's really a strip of gravel along the highway. There's traffic noise during the day, and even late at night a truck comes by now and then. Electrical boxes are in pairs, so the box is on the wrong side for half the sites. The boxes are at the back of each site. With a motorhome you can park head-in, but still may need an extension. Not all boxes have 50 amps. Sites are near level, close together, with no shade. There are 2 water spigots and a dump. Verizon data service works well. The shower is 2 quarters for 10 minutes; it is not clean, and lacks privacy. The laundry has 2 top-loaders ($0.75) and 2 dryers ($0.75).

This is a clean park with occasional train noise. Sites are wide, level or near-level, asphalt or concrete, in various lengths. Roads are wide asphalt in good condition. Hosts are friendly and helpful. WiFi is strong, fast, and fairly reliable, at least near the office. Verizon data service works well. Cable is Charter expanded basic.

This is a clean, quiet park. Sites are long, wide, near-level gravel, separated by wide strips of grass with trees. Sewer connections are 4 inch; some are slightly below ground level. Roads are wide gravel, in good condition. Hosts are friendly and helpful. WiFi is strong, fast, and reliable, at least near the office. The shower is 4 quarters for 7 minutes. I couldn't get any of the following: Verizon data service, Sprint, T-Mobile, terrestrial broadcast television, or VHF weather radio. When the weather turned hot and windy, lots of small gray non-biting flying insects arrived. They fit through the vent screens.

Roads are gravel, fairly narrow, in good condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. Verizon data service works well. WiFi is strong, fast, and reliable, at least near the office. Cable is Comcast. Showers are clean but small; 25 cents gives more time than I needed. The laundry has 4 washers ($1.50) and 4 dryers ($1 for 60 minutes). The rate is total with Good Sam.

This is a clean park. It's quiet at night; during the day there's some noise from the general aviation airport next door. Sites are gravel and grass, fairly level, with no shade. The gravel areas are narrow, but the sites are fairly well separated. Some sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Roads are gravel and dirt, in fair condition, adequately wide, with some potholes. If the wind blows the wrong way, there's a strong cattle smell. The stay limit is 14 days. Payment is by cash in an envelope. There are 2 centrally-located water faucets plus one by the restrooms. Verizon data service works very well.

This is a fairly clean park. It's quiet at night, but about 6:30 AM I started hearing noise from several small engines, perhaps chainsaws. Sites are concrete, narrow, not level, in good condition, with no shade. Sites are partly separated by narrow strips of grass. Back-ins require backing on the right. Some back-ins have plenty of space in front, but others are tight. Sewer connections are slightly below ground level, centered in concrete bowls, with 4 inch diameter fittings. At least with my RhinoFLEX hose, the raised rim of the bowls makes it impossible to get a secure fit. Roads are asphalt, wide, in very good condition. Staff is friendly. WiFi works well. Water pressure is high.

There are low trees but no shade. Roads are asphalt, wide, in fair condition with some potholes. Staff are friendly. Verizon data service works well. Wi-Fi works well. The laundry had 2 working washers ($1) and 1 working dryer ($1).

The back-in sites are grass and gravel, and can get muddy. Many have shade. Roads are asphalt, from adequate to wide, in very good condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. Verizon data service works well. Wi-Fi usually works well, but can drop out. I had no VHF weather radio reception. I measured 101 volts with the microwave on. The water pressure is low.

This is a fairly clean, fairly quiet park. Fairly clean because of some litter at some short-term sites. Fairly quiet because you may be awakened early in the morning by a rooster or a diesel truck. Sites in the new section (201-248) are wide gravel back-ins that are not level. Utilities are provided on both sides of each site, so motorhomes can be parked in either direction. Sites in the old section are gravel, narrow, close together, and not level. Roads are dirt, gravel, or asphalt, in good condition. Roads are wide, but not everyone parks completely off the road, so there can be obstacles. Cable TV (24 channels) is only available in the new section; pull-throughs are only available in the old section. Staff are friendly and helpful. Verizon data service works, but can be slow. Showers are not clean and lack privacy. The rate is for the web special.
