Even though the weather was less than great, we had a great time staying at MacLeaod's Beach Campground. The people who run the campground are lovely - so friendly and helpful. The bathroom and shower facilities are immaculately clean, as is the laundry and office, which is also a store for essential items. The walk to the beach is utterly breathtaking. No matter how many picture we took, we just couldn't capture the magic of the grasses on the dunes not to mention the smell of the sea and wild roses. Even though it was cool and cloudy, we spent almost the whole day on the beach watching the terns diving into the water to catch fish. This beach was absolutely the best of our vacation for combing for stones. The star gazing that night was memorable. We wished our stay here was longer and this is a place we hope to return to.
Because of their website and the rating the "Resort" was given in the Nova Scotia Doers and Dreamers travel guide, I was expecting a great place. It was THE biggest disappointment of our vacation. I had a bad feeling when we were registering and had a list of rules read to us. There were also signs everywhere with warnings you'd be kicked out if you broke a rule. It was made very clear to us that no refunds are given. Thank goodness we only paid for 2 days even though we originally planned on staying for 4. We were charged an additional $5 day for having more than 4 people in our RV. Although the park was almost empty, we were charge an additional $8 a day to move our site to one two lanes closer to the shore - a "premium" site. The laundry facilities were the worst of any park we visited. The men's showers were down. The pool was closed. The WiFi didn't work. You name it, it wasn't working. We left the second day (we knew better than to ask for a refund) and will be notifying Nova Scotia tourism that this place doesn't even come close to the description in the guide and that they are completely misrepresenting themselves on their website.
