While this park was a nice looking park and there was a great view of the bridge, there were a number of things that we found disturbing. First, we had emailed them and received a reply which turned out to be totally different than when we actually made the reservations, as far as the site location/price we would pay, etc. Upon arrival, check in is standing outside of the building and speaking through a screen...very impersonal. We were fortunate it wasn't raining when we checked in. We had been told the location we would be camping in and had to "argue" our point in order to get it. We had a Good Sam coupon specifically for this campground (a coupon given to us by Good Sam for an extra discount), yet it was refused by the campground. The attitude of the person checking us in was very annoying and unprofessional. There is a separate charge for Wi-Fi. Wood cannot be brought in, even from a nearby source, and a very small, rusty, split container is included with the wood bought, for the fire. It is extremely small and we couldn't get the wood they sold us to fit in it very well. The "wood" was actually cut boards. Our fire lasted about an hour and was $5. Our site was a nice size, but it seemed the more expensive the site, the smaller the sites were. Our electricity kept going off and even though the breaker was not thrown, we had to turn it off and on to get electricity back. The showers were clean, however it was like "tent city" in there. No solid walls...all cut shower curtains all the way around and they were not wide enough to stay closed. Not what I would expect out of a "higher class" campground. The water did not come out well in one shower and when it did, it was not very hot. I am still trying to get the sticky off my window from the tape they used to put on our car pass. The garbage needed to be taken to the front of the campground which was quite far if you weren't going somewhere for the day, and it was in a position where if stopping in your car to throw it out, you blocked others from leaving. There were three lanes coming in to the park and only one out, which made turning a bit difficult. Must say the playgrounds were extremely well kept and very nice for the kids. Overall, we were not impressed, for the price.
We were looking for a place to just spend overnight on our way home. We found this campground that states it has premium pull-through sites. We called before arrival and asked for the info needed to make sure there were sites available and to get final directions. Once we arrived we needed to call a phone number to get someone up to the office which says it is open 11am-5pm. We arrived around 3pm. No one answered the phone. We couldn't even turn around to leave because of the gate. We called several times and someone came up to help us (not the owners) and after another phone call the owner finally came. She said she didn't think we were coming?! She charged us $5 more than the first gal said, because the pull through sites have sewer which we didn't need. We wanted pull through so we could leave car attached. The "premium site" was a grass hill that was very unlevel. The "sparkling bath house" as advertised actually had rusty facilities and spider webs in the sink. Very disappointing campground, but were told "it is mostly seasonals." Should add there was free WiFi.
This campground was quite nice and the owner was exceptionally helpful. We received info on all things about the area, the TV stations, Hershey, and everything we asked about. The site was good sized and level. We received Passport America prices which were very reasonable. The pool was clean and the showers were adequate. I would highly recommend this campground because the atmosphere was very pleasant.
Staying at this campground might have been a better experience if we had had a better site. Due to the Little League World Series, all campgrounds and hotels in the area had raised their prices, so there were no discounts and a higher price, which we accepted under circumstances. We were told when we called that we needed to pay in full, up front, before arriving, and with no refunds. We had to pay via charge card and there was an added 5% for using it. There was a $5 per day charge for our young grand daughter since she was the 3rd person in our motorhome. Once here, we were greeted with a rather unfriendly check-in. Then the site we were given, which had been described as a seasonal, nice, level, good sized, back out of the action site, was actually very small with a tree hanging over that made it difficult to get in and out. The site itself was very small and muddy and we sank in. The showers cost $ and the bathrooms were rarely clean or supplied. However, the pool seemed nice and there was free WiFi. The people here had no information on the World Series (but did have the added charge) and offered very little help about the area. It definitely was not the description we were given, or we would not have stayed here.
