This is one of our favorite beach campgrounds. Most sites are far enough from each other for privacy. The restrooms are convenient to most sites and were always clean during our stay. The restrooms are old and the showers are not the best but they were always clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Easy access to beach depending on your site location. There are great restaurants within 10 miles and seafood to purchase within 2 miles. TV reception with HD antenna was good - 13 channels. Some folks with satellite TV had trouble getting through the trees. Wireless Internet is available near the camp store and was super fast. Sprint service was OK but not great - Internet was sometimes slow on phone. If you want the best sites you must reserve 11 months ahead on the SC web site. Great beach and local attractions if you like the outdoors and low country atmosphere.
This was a very nice Resort Type campground. There were many activities that children would enjoy. We were only stopping for one night so did not experience the numerous amenities. The Internet did not work well - I was able to upload blog narrative but no photos, the cable TV worked fine. Sprint cell phone worked well. Since our Sprinter is shorter than many of the long motor homes we were assigned to an area that was very quiet and shady. There was a short walk to the restrooms. If camping with children this would be a great location. We felt it was a little expensive since we really were not interested in all the extras. Friendly staff.
This location was perfect for visiting the Springfield Historical Attractions. It took about 10 minutes to drive back into Springfield. Shade was nice. Sites were close, but not too close for comfort. Restrooms and showers were nice - they are also one of the storm shelters ! I have only stayed in two campgrounds that have storm shelters - good to have if you need it. Internet worked OK and we had good cell coverage with Sprint. We would return here if we were in the area.
