Nice park with several small "lakes". Crew is very friendly and helpful. Only problems here are the very hard water (looks yellow unless you filter it with an RO system and the calcium sticks to everything). The roads are gravel embedded in dirt and when it rains they become full of potholes and ruts. The road coming in is owned by the county and is left to last as "NO ONE LIVES OUT THERE". It becomes very quickly pitted, rutted and potholed due to the traffic coming in for weekend events, and camping. It really should be paved to prevent this. We complained and were told it was regraded on a Monday but it rained for a couple of days after and it became pitted/potholed again -- nothing has been done to fix it in the 19 days we've been here. These are the only two things that would prevent me from coming back (our second year here). Some sites are wider than others due to trees, sewer cleanouts, etc. Entire park is gravel including sites. Sometimes noisy at night if there is an event scheduled (weekends mostly).
Beautiful, well maintained state park with some very large sites available. Only problem was that the restrooms were closed from Dec to June for remodeling. There was a temporary trailer set up with one mens and one womens restroom which was both shower (cold only) and toilet. Was always busy as all of the campsites were using it. There was a small restroom with 2 toilets and showers but doors were a joke - no privacy. Had the restrooms been up and working it would be a great place to stay.
Nice, clean park. However, satellite availability is dependent on where you are parked. If you are on the west side there is a row of very tall trees on the perimeter of the campground. We could not get reception even though the personnel that signed us in said it was a good site for reception. Seems to be run by young adults who don't know North from South! Also, the campsite behind us was occupied by what looked like permanent campers -- lots of stuff stored around the camper -- bikes, ATV's, boat, propane tanks and lots of junk - not what I expected from this park. Laundry had 2 working washers and dryers. One was out of order and no change available for machines. Machines were very small. There was another laundry near the main office with more machines. No garbage bins available. Garbage is picked up AM and PM but nowhere to get rid of food garbage during the day. There are too many flies to leave it outside.
Sites are 15ft wide or less which allows no "sitting area". In addition, there is a small rock wall between each site. We happened to get a site where there was a tree stump when we stepped out our door. The driveway going in is only 1 or 1-1/2 lanes and when we got there it was blocked off for a propane leak in the campground, making it difficult to back out so we sat for about 1 hour until we could get in. Other than the narrow sites and entry drive it was a nice campground with friendly owners. It had a dirt walking path through a tree area, and was fairly clean (we didn't use the restrooms so can't say how clean they were). We would stop there again for an overnight due to the location, but did not like the narrow sites and narrow entry.
Nice park compared to others in the area -- sites are very close together (picnic table apart). Staff is very friendly and were able to find us a last minute reservation - although we had to move to another spot after 5 days, we were happy to be able to get in there during a holiday weekend. It is a tight turn for larger rigs coming into the entry as the office is directly in front of you and the road in circles the office - there are some low hanging wires -- we hit one with our 13ft fifth wheel and broke our antenna (wire was not far off the roof) - they did have it raised after we hit it but there are other wires over the entry road. Would stay there again - although some road noise is audible if you are against that side of the park. Nice walking trail and river close by and distance to town is about a mile but walkable.
OK park - staff friendly. Wi-Fi sometimes very slow. Clean restrooms and shower (coin operated - .50 for 3 mins) takes 30-60 secs to warm up. Fairly wide sites (been in much tighter spots). TV antenna reception terrible - no cell phone reception at campsite (must walk/drive to top of hill in tent camping area to get a signal.
Called in May for reservations -- would not take a credit card to hold a spot. Yet when we got there the only UNRESERVED sites available were unlevel, inconvenient, hookups were too far from the camper, ruts in road and narrow roads with tight turns. We looked for a suitable spot but did not find one. Park needs lots of work. Were told the grandfather who owned it died and a daughter/granddaughter were trying to run it. Would not take visa - wanted a check. After spending about 1 hr looking for a site with no help from the owners, we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Don't understand why we could not make a reservation yet all the good spots were reserved when we got there -- called several weeks ahead but still no reservation! Would not recommend - most of the RV's there were unlevel despite many blocks under the wheels!
Convenient for overnight stop but would not stay longer. Many electrical hookups are missing a circuit breaker (no power), and water leaks at the faucet causing puddle/muddy area. Just a flat parking area with no trees, park benches or other amenities. Good for overnight stop only.
Liked the park and location with one exception. There is a TOOL RENTAL business located on one side of the property. Be aware that they run a POWER WASHER (very noisy if you are located near it) 8 hours a day Monday through Friday and 1/2 day on Saturday. Restrooms and showers were very clean and personnel were very friendly. Location was convenient to shopping and tourist areas. Trees drip sticky sap that coats cars and RV (told it was just during this time of year: mid-June). Would stay again but ask for a better site to avoid the noise.
