We arrived on a Sunday night for an overnight stop on I-81. We didn't like the high price, but it was as far as we wanted to go that day. Our experience was much better than the previous reviewer's. There were many empty spots (week-end visitors had left) which may have accounted for the improved noise level all around. The gas golf carts were indeed noisy, but it was not a constant annoyance. Heard no dogs barking. Had no rig on one side and the other side's occupants were quiet. Yes, the entry was a little tight, but not as bad as some we've encountered and the trees were trimmed high enough not to scratch our coach. We navigated it fine in our 42' motorhome towing our car which made us 60' total. Our space in the 700 row was large and level. It's a destination park designed for children with lots of activities for them. When I had made the reservation, I was at first told there was a minimum 2-night stay. When I explained we were just stopping on our way north, she said they make an exception for travelers on their way elsewhere.
You drive through the countryside a little ways but are circling back towards the highway, which you can see and hear from the campground. The traffic noise isn't enough to keep you awake at night, though. Long-term residents' pickup trucks leaving for work in the early morning might wake a light sleeper. Sites are large, easy to get in and out of, no tree problems, and level enough with the aid of our jacks. No Wi-Fi at our site or cable. Fine for an overnight stay.
Our site was level and easy to get in and out of. The roads are gravel so fairly clean but with a few minor pot holes. The young man in the office was pleasant. It was quiet at night, but the next morning (a Monday), we could hear pick-up trucks from the long-term residents in the park leaving for work starting at 5 AM. We paid $35 cash. Credit card was $40. Wi-Fi was particularly good.
We were over-nighting while heading north on US 59. This park is about 5 miles off that road but worth the drive. No, it's not fancy, nor is it what I'd call a "resort". But it was quiet, the sites were level, the WiFi worked fine for us, and it was an easy in, easy out park. We paid $27.50 with our Escapees discount. We would definitely stay here again.
I had read the previous reviews on Ivy's Cove. When the planes and helicopters started flying low over our heads, sounding like they would land on the roof, I couldn't believe nobody had mentioned that in their reviews! This went on until midnight when we finally got to sleep. It started again at 6 AM. Other than that, it was a fine campground.
This is a simple campground but has everything you need and a very nice lady in the office who will show you right to your site. The price is right, the campground was pretty quiet since it is away from the interstate (but not too far), and it made a good overnight stop.
Very nice park with very friendly owner. Easy access and good interior roads. Especially spacious sites because they are staggered. Park on level concrete. Signage is plentiful and clear. Written information given at office tells about local amenities and sights to see...complete with directions. Great place with reasonable rates!!!
