It was our first camping experience. The sites were mostly shaded with lots of trees, a bit tight as far as the roads, and the site we were at required quite a bit of leveling. Campground was full, but quiet. Lots of kids activities for Halloween; trick or treating, site decorating contest, pumpkin carving, hay rides, and a ghost walk. The store was fully stock and the staff was friendly and helpful. Gas station right outside the gate that could fill propane tanks and Lexington was within a few miles that has a Wal-Mart and several restaurants.
Very nice campground and I would recommend it. Clean, spacious sites w/modern hookups. Owner was very nice and laid back and has lots of plans for expansion in the very near future. Campground convenient to Mt Airy and I-74. They were not crowded (less than 25 other campers) and we had our choice of sites. We did not use restroom/shower facilities, but when I looked in, they were very clean and spacious. There are no fire rings at the campsites, but they may be in the future plans. Trash receptacles placed conveniently around area which eliminates litter and keeps the grounds clean. We had a quiet weekend and are planning to return soon.
