This campground is right across the street fro bass lake. The lake is total sand bottom and is the shallowest lake I have ever seen 2 miles off shore it was 7 inches deep yes I said 7 inches we had to push our boat a few times. This is a wave runner or jet ski lake. We went during their splash festival with is a holiday for them so we paid $10 higher for weekend but wasn't worth it nothing big nothing going on at all at campground. The campground is in need for some major tree trimming our friends that were going to camp next to us could not go they have a class a motorhome trees hanging down to low. They also needed 50 amp they called ahead the part said they would check and call them back our friends had to call 3 time to get a answer to witch they only had 2 and were taken. Also the water was real bad it was brown and smelled like onions real bad I had to switched to my tanks for water. So to sum up bad water, low trees, bad PR and a big lake or big puddle only good thing is very short walk to lake. As you guessed we will not be returning.
We use this park for an overnighter. This park is new, some sites still being built. The staff was very nice. They have a fishing pond that has big fish in it. The park was very clean the showers were the best I have ever seen. They are all new private rooms: its like being at home. I read past reviews about their bathrooms and showers: they are not wrong. Other parks should look and learn how to do their showers. This park will be one of the top parks when then get it all done. We would camp here again.
We use this park just for an overnight on our way to Myrtle Beach. This park had no amenities but it suited our needs just to rest after a 10 hour drive. This park is a big field with full hook ups. They have a pay box so we got their late and left early so never meet the staff. This park is a couple miles off highway its a perfect overnight park.
This was the best park I ever stayed at. The sites are huge for ocean front. We had a back in site #29: I could see and hear the waves crashing on shore. The staff were the nicest we have ever meet. There is a Wal-Mart a block down the road and a bunch of stores and restaurants. The beach was clean; not too good for shelling, just small ones. The pier was very nice. It will cost you $6.50 to fish off the pier, but it's free to walk it. The pier goes 1206 feet out into ocean . This campground is well worth going to. If we could, we'd repack the RV and leave now to go back.
This was a nice clean park. The owners were some of the nicest people I have meet yet RV'ing. The town of New Carlisle is small, so getting use to the small town life maybe a little different. You could see Hudson Lake from campground. It's a clean lake, a good size for boating and water stuff. The park has stuff to do every weekend. The only bad thing was the train tracks were very close. Trains do come through all night. They don't blow a horn at night, but you do hear the car's on the tracks. If it was not for the trains, this park would have gotten a higher rating. We would come back with train's and all.
This park is nice and clean. It says its across the street from the dunes; yes, they are but it's about a 3 to 4 mile walk to the dunes. If you bring a bike of car you will be OK. The owners of the park were very nice and helpful. They did have a playground but if you have kids like mine 15 and 11 playground was for little kids. They do have a pond but no swimming of fishing, just to look at. This is a nice campground for just relaxing, but it has no extras. We would not camp here due to how far the walk to beach is and no extras for older kids.
This campground was ok. The sites were VERY tight, we had a 31 foot motorhome pulling a car and we almost didn't fit. I had to back the car right next to RV, that took 90% of sitting area. The people that run this park are VERY strict about rules and are always out in-between the hours 8am and 5pm, then they went home and people did what ever they wanted. I heard from other RV's that Sarasota wants that land to put up high priced hotels, so one mess-up with rules and bye-bye campground. Now the good. Walk 20 feet and you are in the ocean; go about 10 miles down the road and you are at Siesta Key Beach, a very cool beach. Go about 20 miles other way and you are at Venice Beach, another cool beach. Our beach was good: had lots of sea shells, was never crowded and was nice to walk out of the RV right to the beach. We would camp here again, but without the car.
This park was clean. There were nice people in morning but crabby in the evening. This was a boys fishing weekend. The lake was about 20 feet from camper they showed lots of pictures of big fish catches. I don't know if it was the weather we had a cold front and rain come through but we got nothing but small to med bluegill. We got yelled at by the owner. I think he was the owner. Our site was by his house and I guess we were loud. We weren't that loud, just guys around a camp fire drinking and laughing and talking. The guy told us that quiet hours were at 8pm, but the rule sheet said 11pm. It was still light out at 8pm. The web site said they had all this food and store. There is no store and very little food. There are restaurants and stuff down the road about half mile walk. It is a nice place to camp just dont make noise after 8pm and bring your walking shoes. I would camp here again.
This park was very nice and the people were very helpful. The park was clean. Our spot was by the lake: about 25 feet from edge, in a nice shaded spot. The fishing was not very good, just small bullheads. The pools and beach were very good and clean. Lots of stuff for little kids to do, but I do advise renting a golf cart for $60 for the weekend for this is a big park. One day just about sunset, I was fishing and looked up and saw a full grown eagle flying over lake. It was nested in a tree by the camper: very cool! This park is worth the price if you have little kids. We would camp here again.
This campground sites were very small. I have a 31 foot motorhome, we could not put up our awning due to a tree in the way. My slideout was about 1 to 2 inches from another tree on other side. The water & electric hook up was on other side of camper so we had to get out a garden hose for water. They had a very nice pool. The office/store closed by 3pm most time sooner than that. There was a pond with no fish in it one of the permanents said he there was fish in there but he had not seen anyone pull any out in a long time. Carlyle lake is near by its a huge man made lake looks like a smaller lake Michigan. There are lots of water things to do there. The campground was loud at night because cars and trucks. All in all this was a no thrills campground I would not drive out of my way to stay here. Lake Carlyle cool, Hickory shores resort not cool. We will not be going back.
This park was a joke. It was like dry camping. Our water was just a pipe stuck in the ground with no water. We had to use a garden hose to stretch to the next open lot to get water. The fire ring was a car rim just thrown down on the ground. The owner, I think he was the owner, was too mean to talk to. He did not like anyone to ask or talk to him, so we just made due with what we had. Not a good idea to make a crazy, mean man mad at you in the middle of the woods, far away from any kind of police. The people with us went to the dump. I guess it had gas build up in the dump. When she let the black tank go the dump back fired and she was covered with 3 days worth of you-know-what. So needless to say we will not be coming back here ever!!!
This park was very clean, and the people were very nice and helpful. They offer a free shuttle to the amusement park which was okay. Some of the people around there were on the shady side, mostly on the weekends. The pool was clean, warm and big. The store had almost everything you could need. The only bad thing for us is when we had to leave. We would come here again.
The park was clean and the lake was very pretty. The park needs a lot of work the last owners ran it in to the ground. The new owners are trying to bring it back to what it was. We stayed at the hanger site #3 it was OK when we got there on Thursday but by Friday they backed so many big 5th wheels and big pull along that my 31 foot motorhome looked small and the only view I saw was the peoples slide out next to me. This was a waste of a 4 hour drive and gas. I booked this park due to a buy one night get one free. Next time I will never book a park without checking this review site. We will not be going back.
