If you're looking for a break from state park or standard RV park camping, this is a place to go. For $55/night, you get all of the "public" hot springs soaking you can stand and a full-service hookup. The Wi-Fi is fast enough for movie watching, TorC is a great little town and almost everything in town is walking distance from Riverbend. You can even get breakfast delivered to the campground if you order early enough. This is one of the most beautiful places in southern New Mexico. The campsites are small and a little crowded, but you do have a picnic table in each site and you'll be spending most of your time in the resort anyway. The resort provides a nice gas barbecue for residents' use, a wonderful patio area with an awning, gas fireplace, and outdoor heaters in the winter, and the Rio Grande views from the public, private, and deck are amazing. Check in is 3 PM and they do not take reservations for the campsites; first come, first serve. Check out is "11-ish."

The camp hosts are incredibly helpful. We straggled into Elephant Butte Lake State Park with a crippled motorhome, well off-season. Everyone from the camp hosts to the park's rangers were helpful, tolerant, and friendly. The bathroom near our site (Lion's Beach) was not heated, but the showers were always clean and there was plenty of hot water. My wife took to 35 degree showers a little more slowly than me. ;-) The two week stay limit was no real problem because we broke up our park time between Elephant Butte and Monticello and Riverbend Spa in TorC. We stayed from mid-December to mid-March in 2014 and loved the place right till we headed home. Our dog thinks the lake is her private playground. Elephant Butte is a fun little town, too. There are several excellent and reasonably priced restaurants, generally good services, some terrific RV and automotive repair shops (Big Victor's Automotive saved our trip), and some groceries are available from the service stations. TorC is 5 miles away for everything else you might need.

When we were here in November, there were about a dozen campers, hunters, motorcyclists, ATV'ers, and boaters in the park. The park is a little raw, but incredibly fun. It is well run, has spaces with serious privacy, and great views. Really nice people.

I picked this park so that my daughter's family could visit with us over an extended weekend. Cedar Mills has some very nice cabins to rent, near their store, restaurant, and playground. I can not say enough good things about this campsite. The bathrooms were very clean, the grounds are beautifully maintained, showers were hot, and there is a petting zoo for kids.
