We (family) were expecting a lot, because there is a nice description at the "Directory of KOA." In fact there is a big slide and a park, but everything seems old and used. The pool is OK. The campground is dusty and very uneven. Our bench was old and kind of ugly. They have some patio sites, they do look a little better. The "Royal Gorge" is worth a trip. There´s a park around the bridge, it opens at 10 a.m. (RV parking possible). You have to pay an entrance fee ( $ 24,- for adults). It´s nice for adults and kids and worth the money. You can cross the bridge by tram, feet or car (no RVs), do several rides, watch a movie about Royal Gorge, eat and shop etc.
We just did a reservation, because our chosen campground was full. But it came out very well. The hosts are friendly and motivated. There was a talent show, a treasure hunt, breakfast in the morning. This KOA has a nice, clean pool area and big enough sites. We enjoyed our stay.
We (family with kids) stayed here 3 years ago and liked it - again! Clean restrooms, nice pool, game room and friendly people. First we got a tight spot in the back, but we asked for a better (more expensive) one in the front- and it worked out pretty well. We camped next to some orange trees, had a patio, chairs and a table. Ask for a spot like that, it´s worth the money. 10 Min. drive to Disneyland, close to the stadium, Starbucks, nice restaurants & shops (Garden Village) etc. We enjoyed it!
We got their last spot at Memorial weekend. They were next to their exit and - also several other sites are - very close to a busy road - no fences. There is also a Highway on the other side of this campground, so it is a very noisy place! The clubhouse is nice, but the sites are small and there´s only little space for your own chairs etc. - no tables or benches present. They don´t have a pool either and because of all these circumstances I can NOT suggest this place - especially not for families . If you chose this campground anyway, try to check out the map and try to get a site in the middle.
We got their last spots at Memorial weekend, The staff is very friendly, helpful and they love kids. They did a program with pork dinner, hay ride and karaoke. The facilities are not brand new, but everything is clean and OK ... and there´s a nice playground. You do camping between trees and birds and you´ll only need 15 min. to downtown OKC. We have had a great weekend and would visit this family friendly campground again.
