This is the fourth time we have stayed here and really enjoy it, especially during the off season. Staff is great, sites are well taken care of, electric, water, sewer and cable all work well. We will keep coming back.
Sites are large and level. All utilities work very well. The Wi-Fi has vastly improved over the past year. Park provides passes for the local town beaches on the sound. We found the staff, adults and young adults, to be friendly and helpful. There are a reasonable number of seasonals without all the "seasonal junk" all over their sites. We enjoy this campground very much.
We have stayed here many times over the years. Staff (owners) are very friendly and always willing to help. Everything is well maintained. They do not accept seasonals which is a big plus for us. It is a very easy on/off the New York State Thruway with gas stations and plenty of places to eat around.
Very clean. WiFi was spotty at best. Loads of seasonals. Our site was Very narrow. Neighbor's sewer connection was about 12 inches from our picnic table. Next winter, we'll try Alabama. Campground is pet friendly, but some of the seasonals are not.
This is the second time we stayed here and this is a GREAT place. WiFi has been recently installed and works very well.Bike trails, water park, fishing/crabbing dock and dog park ( with lake) are all top notch.
Great overnight spot. Easy on & off Route 77. The staff there is very nice and the store is well stocked to include a bar, a Blimpie's sandwhich shop and a gas station. Pool is very nice and the park is well kept. Not much grass, but ample shade.
A real nice place with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the inter-coastal on the other. They have added some new sites directly on the inter-coastal waterway. We really enjoyed this campground and the area. People running the place are real nice too.
What a great base camp for visiting the Charleston area. It is without a doubt the best run municipal park we have ever been to. Waterpark, fishing, crabbing and the beaches are wonderful. A must for anyone visiting the Charleston area.
This place is a dump. Nothing more than a trailer park with a few overnight spots. The concert area is called "Plaza Mexico" Hundreds of Mexicans there, music blaring, yelling into a PA system..Horrible place to spend the night!
Everything said in the other review is true. However, the waterfront sites are pretty close together and it is hard to figure out where one site begins and another ends. Nice folks who own the place and very helpful. Crowded and all, we will be back!
This is really a great campground! Horses walking through all day and the riding stable is right there for the horseback tour of the battlefield. The folks who run the place are the best! Sites are large and well spaced and level. We will be back!
New owners are doing a great job and they are very nice people. There is only one seasonal in the campground ( a leftover from the previous owners) and the new owners will not accept seasonals. Subsequently, there are no trashy sites. Some spaces are a little close, but it is a very nice place.
This is a tale of two campgrounds. On the one side are very large, private sites which are very nice. Too bad so many of them are full of seasonals. The other side is a large gravel parking lot they call the "rally field". We were in the rally field during a rain storm and our site was flooded by about 15 inches of water. The rally field is not worth the money. Cable is very limited, at times the water pressure was very low.
A very nice campground close to everything in Gettysburg. There is a riding academy there and subsequently lots of horses. The sites are large with plenty of room. The diorama of the battles around Gettysburg there is free to campers and is very well done. We look forward to returning.
Did not like this campground at all. Seasonal sites looked like a run down trailer park! River sites so close we could not open our awning. Huge boulders along roads make it VERY difficult to maneuver in and out of spaces. Will NOT go back!
A really nice place to stay while in the area. We used this campground as a base camp during the Saugerties Garlic Festival. The owners and staff could not be more helpful and the campground is kept very clean. A must return on our list!!
This place is really nice! One end is on the ocean the other on the intercoastal waterway! Sites are large and there is alot of vegitation which gives you lots of privacy. Some seasonal sites but they are well kept. We were scheduled for 3 days but stayed 8 as we liked it so much. Am looking forward to going back.
New owners are very nice and helpful. There are still some seasonal trailers there which give it the trailer park look (abandon cars, junk all around). Hopefully the owners will get rid of the trailer park trash and it will be a decent place. Would go back if the trash is removed.
The sites 1 through 20 are very nice, level, shaded, large and easy into and out of. The sites on the hill, are small, crowded (no room to open your awning) and out in the open. It's like night and day between the two areas. Ok for overnight (espically in the first 20 sites).
A great little campground. Nice sites although a few are small. Lots of trees and very clean. Some seasonals but none of the "seasonal junk" around. Used it as an overnight and was very pleased. Would go back!
This is a nice campground but very crowded. Their site map on the web site doesn't show about 35 tent sites on the center ball field. Everything was very crowded the weekend we were there. Some of the sites are pretty large, others are fairly small. The better sites, by far, are the seasonal sites. It is beyond me how Trailer Life could rate this as one of the top 20 campgrounds in the US & Canada.
A great place to stay when in the NYC area. It was noted buy another camper that there are alot of children on bicycles and scooters. That is correct. I would rather be in a place where there are a lot of children riding bicycles than "big old" seasonals in golf carts. Kids ride bicycles! It's a normal thing. The problem this past weekend with the cable was reported to the office (me included) and was fixed by Saturday morning. There are insects...short of camping in the North Pole in June I don't know where you wont find insects! This is a great campground as is evidenced by the other reviews. Funny thing is just 3 miles further down the road is the Shady Grove Rest Home. I think the earlier reviewer stopped at the wrong place.
Mixed feelings about this park. The trees need to be trimmed which makes access difficult to some sites. The mine was fun and the park is well maintained and clean. The riverfront sites are side by side hook ups and very narrow. Not much privacy. This is the first KOA we have been to which lets the seasonals keep all their junk around (plywood trailer skirts, wood porches, wood piles, sheds, golf carts, fences, lawn junk, extra propane bottles) and it looks like a trailer park look in places. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would not go back.
A great campground with a very friendly staff. As one rater did say it's a bit hilly getting there (and some tight turns on a narrow road) but it was not too bad. We really enjoyed the campground. It too is hilly, but the sites for the most part are level. It is clean and well kept and was very quite when we were there even though most sites were occupied. We will return as there is a lot to do in the vacinity of this campground.
