This was a typical great Missouri State Park system campground. When we were there, they were refurbishing much of campground 2. The shower house was fantastic with clean restrooms and showers (individual stalls). The sites were well spaced and easy to back-into. I had a 35' fiver, but it was still less than 10 minutes to get settled. Everything was quiet despite the fact that it was Mem. Day Weekend. The trail at the lakefront was great, as was the proximity to various Branson activities. We will definitely stay here again. Again, further proof that Missouri takes care of its RVers.
This is yet another outstanding Missouri State Park. We had an unusually warm February weekend and decided to try-out the new fifth wheel at the park. We did not use the water hookup, and all we used was the 30 amp electrical. However, from the look of the hookups present, this is a great park for camping for a night or a long weekend. Fishermen will enjoy the fact that it is the headwaters of the Current River and is frequently stocked with trout. Families will enjoy the many playgrounds and a chance for the kids to splash-around in very clean river water. There are some historical sites nearby such as an old mill, and the state sanctions a restaurant in the park (we have not tried it yet). We did not survey the local area much. The sites are all concrete/asphalt pad back-in sites (no pull throughs). We will definitely be back, and it is indicative of the great state park sites in Missouri. One bad thing is that it was the off-season months, so water, showers, and flush toilets were not available. We did use the provided pit latrine which was clean.
We flipped a coin between staying at this campground or the KOA across the street. This one won the toss, and we were overall very satisfied with our luck. The staff is extremely friendly, and they offer curbside pickup of trash every morning. Sites are largely pullthrough, and many of the pads are concrete. From the architecture, we guessed this to be a former KOA, but they clearly improved it from the existing KOAish infrastructure. The restrooms were immaculate and in great condition, and the camp store is well maintained, attractive, and useful. They did lose a couple of points, however. -1 for the size of the pads. They are extremely narrow (wich goes along with the narrow sites themselves). I had to jockey my fifth wheel significantly to account for a tree that was very close to my pad. -1 for very spotty WiFi. My guess is that the router is a fairly old one, and they can remedy this with very little expense. Knowing that, this is still a great campground, and we will undoubtedly stay there enroute to our next Disney Vacation. Don't let the "8" fool you, they are within a hair of a 9, and they definitely have the potential for a 10.
Great campground! We were very pleasantly surprised by this location. We checked in after hours, and the process was very simple to register. Be forewarned, however, this is a popular park. The entire park is very level, so parking and leveling was no trouble. Hookups are in the right position, and the spaces are surprisingly spacious (we stayed in a 30 amp spot). Most sites are pullthrough, but they have a few back-in sites if you choose. The restrooms and shower building are fantastic. Frankly, I think the shower/restroom building rivals those at Ft. Wilderness Resort at Disney World--clean and modern. We are looking for activities in the Chattanooga area simply because we want to stay at this park again. If you want a clean, relaxing stay, do yourself a favor and camp here.
Wow. Wow. Wow. That is really all we can say. The site was perfect, the staff cleans all the sites immediately prior to arrival, they are all concrete, great hookups, great location, and absolutely first class. The hookups are in the middle, which caused me to stretch my fresh water hose a bit far. Also, it tested the limits of my power cable (30 amp). We stayed in a premium site, and were very pleased with the location, the immaculate comfort stations, and the overall experience. We did find free Wi-Fi near the trading post, and it was very quick. There was no Wi-Fi at the campsite itself, and we did not pay for the cable internet (for 10 bucks a day). Please bear in mind that we did not spend a lot of time at the campground because we were always at the parks, but we realized afterward that we should have planned some days in the campsite, as there are a multitude of activities there. We are ecstatic and are ready to plan our next Ft. Wilderness vacation. This is truly a resort.
We stayed here en route to Disney World. It was a great place to stay overnight, and we would stay here again for a simple overnight. Everything was very clean, after hours check-in was a snap, and the site was level and well set-up. Our only complaint was the cost of the Wi-Fi. Given the standards of all other sites we've stayed at, there really is no excuse to charge for this. As it was, this was the most expensive camp we stayed at during our trip, and it was also packed during this time. However, it was clean, well-staffed, and a great stopover for a night. We would stay again.
We loved this campground. We spent the night en route to Disney World, and this was also a chance for us to "try out" a commercial site for the first time as relatively new RVers. The sites are gravel, and that is the only drawback to this campground (actually, we don't mind gravel at all). The Wi-Fi worked wonderfully, the staff was unbelievably friendly, and everything worked just as we expect it to work. However, please note that we were here on a very quiet weekend, and we stayed in a pull through site. However, it appeared that they had a variety of configurations for any camping need. It is in close proximity to Six Flags and St. Louis. For us, we plan to utilize it for occasional visits to St. Louis for weekends, and we will definitely be back.
We camped here overnight en route to Disney World. We arrived after hours, and our reservation (made online) was waiting for us on the registration board. Our site was gravel, spacious, and well arranged. We did stay in one of the pull-throughs. The campground was older, but well maintained. We met the staff the following morning, and they were extremely friendly. It received an 9 simply because it is somewhat dated. Overall, we would definitely stay here again as an over nighter.
