Beautiful views over looking the Mississippi, but the gnats were more than abundant. The facilities were well cared for. It served our purpose. I just wish we could have enjoyed the outdoors more. Nice treed park.
This is a lovely state park with shaded sites for RV's in only Quail Loop. There are two other loops with electrical and water hookups but out in the open. However the views from those sites are beautiful. The park boasts of hiking trails some of which follow a creek and also the Verde River. The town of Cottonwood, especially the historic section, is charming and offers a couple of hours of wandering and sightseeing. The nearby town of Jerome is historically rich with tales of mining lore. We will definitely return to this area to camp.
The park is abundantly treed maybe too much. Very little sunlight gets through the canopy consequently there is also an abundance of Mosquitos. The pluses to the park, very friendly and helpful staff and the park is located on the quiet site of the peninsula. The park also looks and feels like a campground not a parking lot.
